Prager Challenges De Niro to Defend His Trump Attack

Dennis Prager will be the first to tell you he didn’t hop aboard the Trump Train during the 2016 primaries.

The syndicated talk show host preferred the other candidates in the crowded GOP field. Once the real estate mogul emerged victorious, though, Prager embraced him as the last defense against a second Clinton presidency.

Prager has no regrets about his decision. In fact, he’s one of President Trump’s most reliable defenders now. That’s why he took special note of actor Robert De Niro’s latest anti-Trump screed.

The Oscar winner tore into Trump during the National Board of Review awards Jan. 9. The Hollywood legend, no stranger to Trump bashing, outdid himself in a way that would earn him repeated bleeps at any televised awards show.

It was fascinating watching The Post. That story took place nearly 50 years ago, but there many parallels today, obviously. At the time of the story, Donald Trump was suffering from (air quotes) “bone spurs.” Today the world is suffering from the real Donald Trump. Come on. You know. What are we talking about? This f***ing idiot is the president. It’s the Emperor’s New Clothes. This guy is a f***ing fool …

Our government today with the [prompting] of our baby-in-chief—our jerkoff in chief, I call him—has put the press under siege, ridiculing it through trying to discredit it through outrageous attacks and lies. And again, just like 1971, the press is distinguishing itself with brave, exacting journalism.

De Niro must have missed the avalanche of journalism gaffes over the past 12 months. Prager didn’t. He also refused to let De Niro get away with his vile comments on the talker’s Jan. 10 broadcast.

“Robert De Niro is an idiot. Robert De Niro is exactly what he describes the president, that’s the amazing thing,” Prager said. “It so saddens me because I so enjoy his acting, but Bob, I gotta tell ya, you’ve lost me as a viewer.”

Prager, who is currently working on the documentary “No Safe Spaces,” addressed the tone of the actor’s comments next.

“It’s not because I’m defending the President. If a right-wing actor, which is almost an oxymoron, would say at a thing, ‘Barack Obama is an f-ing idiot’ I could not watch the guy’s films any more. First, I don’t like public cursing … it only reflects poorly on the lack of self control of the individual speaking.”

He then used De Niro to collectively attack liberal actors and their political posturing.

“Robert De Niro comes across as a sophisticated thinker … these guys have lost their minds much more than the President.”

They’re not just fools. They’re arrogant fools,” he continued. “Other than the crowd you hang out with you think anybody gives a damn what Robert De Niro thinks of the president? Have you ever established yourself as a serious thinker?”

Prager later offered a challenge to De Niro. Come on his syndicated radio show and have a fair and honest debate about President Trump. Prager vowed to treat the star with the utmost respect. It wouldn’t be the first time he allowed a harsh critic enter his studio. Prager recently invited a man who tried to get him removed from a conducting gig last year along with the gentleman’s wife.

Will the Hollywood tough guy take the challenge? Stay tuned.

  1. I wish actors the I enjoy watching would shut up so I can keep watching them. Criminy. It’s not that hard of a concept.

    1. Movie has to be worth my time to watch so don’t know this man. why waste time on a person whose only talent appears to be a good memory to remember words, written by others, and spout them on command; specially when most of what he says is decorated with Gutter language.

      1. Heat was a great movie. Now, should I choose to watch it one evening I’ll be reminded of this crap every scene he’s in, so likely it’ll ruin it should I ever watch it again, which is unlikely.

And when you’re deployed, watching a movie is a nice break, just like reading a book.

To blanketly dismiss entertainment is to dismiss it all—Why waste time on a work of fiction if it’s just that and written by someone who’s only talent is to tell a made up story?

  2. It’s getting to a point where I am just not watching NFL, movies with certain actors and most news now…guess I could argue their rants are improving my health and getting me off the couch to do other active and positive things…..
