Why Susan Sarandon’s Cancellation Is So Revealing
Oscar-winner struggled to find work following her extreme anti-Israel comments

Legacy Media outlets don’t actually care about free speech.
Sure, we’ve had a year-plus of stories about fascism, dictatorships and a certain Orange Hitler allegedly clamping down on our First Amendment rights.
Yet the same outlets were conspicuously silent before Donald Trump returned to the Oval Office in 2025.
They ignored or downplayed serial speech attacks from all sides. Here’s just a partial list:
- Gina Carano fired for an innocuous post pleading for tolerance
- The Twitter Files silenced conservatives on a major social media platform
- Sensitivity readers erased passages from iconic authors like Ian Fleming and Agatha Christie
- Comedians were alternately self-censoring or attempting to cancel their peers
- Online creators watched their work get censored by Big Tech platforms
That’s just a very partial list. The biggest example of the media’s free speech indifference came with the new Hollywood Blacklist.
Right-leaning actors hide their political views for fear of retribution, and they’ve done so for some time. The Legacy Media cops to the problem repeatedly, either directly or indirectly, but something key is always missing from the coverage.
Outrage. Ominous headlines. Fiery op-eds fighting back against the censorship.
Reporters just don’t care if conservatives lack the same speech rights as everyone else. Not even a little.
Yet we recently watched some major entertainment sites cry foul over Susan Sarandon’s career implosion. The far-Left actress spoke out in the wake of the Oct. 7 atrocities, taking an aggressively pro-Palestinian stance.
She even suggested the monstrous rapes and sexual depravities committed against Israeli women never happened. Tell that to the survivors, or are we not Believing All Women all of a sudden?
For that, she lost her representation and some gigs, she says.
Now, as abhorrent as some of her views may be, it’s a slippery slope to cancel an artist for ghoulish thoughts. Where does it end? Sarandon remains a gifted performer who should be able to thrive in her chosen profession.
Yet Hollywood has been punishing artists for years, from comedians who told “problematic” jokes to anyone suggesting the GOP might have the right solutions to our country’s ills.
And the Legacy Media never batted an eye over those cancellations. In fact, major sites would often recoil when a cancelled star attempted to rebuild his or her career.
Just ask Morgan Wallen. Or Louis C.K.
Yet several key news platforms shared Sarandon’s story, amplifying her suggestion that speech is under attack today.
- The AV Club
- The Hollywood Reporter
- Variety
- Entertainment Weekly
- Deadline
The far-Left Variety minimized her original comments, to boot.
“In a place where you feel repression and censorship, to see Spain and to see the president and what he says and the support that he’s giving about Gaza, and to have actors like Javier Bardem come forward with such a strong voice, is so important to us in the United States,” she said.
The censorship she faces, of course, comes from Hollywood. Not The White House.
Just ask Carano, who successfully sued Disney for wrongful termination.
Now, try to find some hand-wringing stories in the Legacy Media about James Woods being thrown out of Hollywood for his political views… or Kevin Sorbo … or Scott Baio … or Matthew Marsden.
We’ll wait.
Those conservative stars don’t get Legacy Media attention because those outlets aren’t the least bit upset about their cancellations.
“Sarandon remains a gifted performer..” ain’t no such thing. Acting is not about talent, it is about who your family is, who you know, and who you or a friend is willing to have sex with. Acting is reading (a common skill, not a talent) something someone else wrote the way someone else tells you to as many times as it takes to get it the way someone else wants it to sound. Actors are not people, they are pampered, overpaid, over-valued muppets. If they had an ounce of intelligence or understanding of business, they’d keep their mouths shut when off stage or simply thank their fans profusely.
When I was coming up she gave off hot mom/aunt vibes. I def wanted to plow her. I only get nut job bigot vibes off her now.
Once I get my software to make my own AI videos, I’m having susan sarandon and the other lefties, say they’re MAGA and Go Trump. Maybe even have them wear a MAGA hat. Whatever it costs it will be worth it.
Must suck to be rich and famous and then say what you TRULY believe and then be ostracized because you offend so many who control the area of your employment! Oh, and don’t forget that those people care about whether WHO they employ might result in massive FINANCIAL LOSSES due to the masses NOT supporting that person’s beliefs! Imagine anyone upset because an actress simply denies that the atrocities documented actually occurred! What’s wrong with people? Let her back in – maybe some leftists will pay her big money to perform and not even be concerned that she alienated millions who won’t see their production! On the other hand, you take Mr. Woods, Mr. Sorbo, and Mr. Baio – would the leftists refuse to watch their movies? Probably, but what did THEY say that was so offensive? The two are not the same!
I work from home and earn a respectable $6k a week, which is amazing considering that a year ago I was unemployed in a terrible economy. I always give God praise for honoring me with these rules, and now it’s my duty to practice anticipatory compassion and share it with everyone. Likewise,
