Late-Night Comics Pretend Trump May Come for Them Next
Here's why we shouldn't trust far-left talkers on free speech rights
The Resistance™ is both futile and pathetic.
Hollywood spent President Donald Trump’s first term melting down on social media, begging for his death and insulting those who voted for the real estate mogul.
Now? The stars keep pretending the 47th president will throw them in jail, force them off the air or block them from re-entering the country for critiquing him.
Ben Stiller recently said he’s worried that the president will target him for that reason. So did rising comic star Nikki Glaser.
The evidence? What evidence?
We’re used to that level of insanity on “The View,” where the craziest conspiracies grow like weeds. Now, it’s gone mainstream in La La Land.
Stephen Colbert Denounces $16 Million Settlement Paramount Made with Trump: ‘Big Fat Bribe’ for Skydance Mergerhttps://t.co/k71r27vXV6

Late-night partisans Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are pretending they fear for free speech under Trump 2.0. Their caterwauling came in the wake of CBS settling a multi-million-dollar suit with President Trump over an October interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
The far-Left “60 Minutes” deceptively edited the stumbling Harris, attempting to make her look presidential in the process. It’ll take more than some not-so-stealth tweaks to make that happen, but CBS gave it the ol’ college try.
Now, they’re paying up.
Here’s the allegedly deceptive CBS edit—exposed by popular X clipper @Mazemoore, who caught the stunt back in October 2024.
He wrote at the time, “Remember Kamala’s word salad answer about Israel on 60 Minutes? It’s gone. This is what many Americans will now see.” pic.twitter.com/30DNhpT0V8

The evidence was clear for all to see, and CBS settled the suit rather than go through the “discovery” process. Imagine what that might have revealed.
Critics say CBS blinked due to the pending Skydance-Paramount Media merger, a deal that will be finalized with Trump administration approval.
That may have influenced the speed of the settlement, to a degree. It hardly suggests President Trump is trying to take out his media opponents. “60 Minutes” failed to do proper journalism and injected itself into the heat of a presidential campaign.
And it wasn’t the first time. Remember RatherGate? The biased program also refused to release the interview transcript until after the election.
Nothing to see here, voters. Move along.
Tell that to Colbert, who vowed the settlement won’t impact how he treats Trump in the years to come. Colbert called the deal a “big, fat bribe,” refusing to address the key context in the case. He also pointed to a new mustache as part of his attempt to comically dodge Trump’s censorial dragnet.
“How are they going to pressure Stephen Colbert, if they can’t find him?”
So stunning. So brave.
Stewart, who helped create today’s hyper-partisan late-night landscape, invited former “60 Minutes” reporter Steve Kroft on the show to ignore the damning evidence together.
It’s about journalistic integrity, they cried in near-unison. The duo didn’t raise similar concerns when Legacy Media outlets colluded with President Joe Biden to cover up his dementia-like status.
(Then again, so did Stewart.)
The far-Left entertainment news site TheWrap.com played up these fears, using speculation from an obscure news site run by former CNN Leftist Oliver Darcy as evidence.
Weird. But it gets worse.
Colbert and Stewart, like their progressive peers, stood down as Cancel Culture ran wild through their community. Stand-up comedians had to watch what they said or fear career reprisals. Classic sitcom episodes got memory-holed for sharing the “wrong” jokes.
Dave Chappelle was physically attacked following his controversial Netflix comedy special, “The Closer,” that enraged the Left. Heck, children’s author Dr. Seuss saw some of his books banned by his own publisher, and late-night clowns chuckled over the erasure.
Woke silenced social media critics, kicked people off of digital platforms for having the “wrong” reviews and made artists self-censor for their survival.
Colbert and co. didn’t say a syllable against the toxic trend.
Now, they’re puffing out their chests and promising to speak Truth to Power against Trump. Chances are, if Trump were half the dictator they claim, they wouldn’t say a peep.
“the great pretenders…”
