Late-Night Hacks on L.A. Riots – Riots? What Riots?
Comedians who downplayed violent 'Summer of Love' are back for sequel
They never learn.
Five years ago, late-night “satirists” like John Oliver and Seth Meyers did all they could to downplay the rampant destruction tied to the BLM protests.
Here’s how NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” covered up the relentless Portland riots following George Floyd’s March 2020 death.
“Our government used graffiti to justify sending secret police to an American city to abduct protesters in unmarked vans without telling them who they are, where they’re going or why they’re being arrested … What they’re actually doing is even worse. They’re snatching peaceful protesters off the street. They’re kidnapping people and not even telling them what they’re being charged with.”
“Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver echoed Meyers talking points back in 2020. The HBO comic went further, attacking Fox News for essentially getting the story right.
Sound familiar? The talking points haven’t changed since 2020. We’re hearing the same progressive rhetoric tied to the recent L.A. riots over ICE agents conducting lawful raids.
It’s happening again, and it shouldn’t be shocking at this point. Late-night liberals twist the truth like a pretzel to fit their hard-Left narratives. This is the same motley crew that lied about President Joe Biden’s mental decline for four-plus years.
Pretending riots aren’t riots is a cakewalk for them.
Earlier this week, Stephen Colbert downplayed the riots via a comedy “sketch” mocking President Trump for a minor stumble on the Air Force One stairs.
Now, Jimmy Kimmel is misleading his viewers, again, by telling them the riots aren’t happening. His proof?
Look outside his posh studio. No riots.
Really.
Kimmel says in Hollywood things are mostly peaceful — & endorses the uprising:
“I’m very angry, I have to say. I cannot believe what’s going on. I knew it was going to be bad, I did not know it was going to be this bad. People who have lived here their whole lives, people who… pic.twitter.com/S5YWphJopd

“I’m very angry, I have to say. I cannot believe what’s going on. I knew it was going to be bad, I did not know it was going to be this bad. People who have lived here their whole lives, people who have been in this city longer than I have, the vast majority of whom have never done anything wrong, are being abducted, which is the correct word to use, by agents in masks, hiding their identities, grabbing people off the street and at work, sending people to detention centers.
“And to protest that, which is not only our right as Americans, it’s our responsibility, Los Angelenos gathered to demonstrate &, with very few exceptions, peacefully demonstrate to voice their opposition to this disgusting & unnecessary abuse of power instigated by our mentally ill president, who is dead-set on exacerbating this, who actually wants conflict, who is intentionally inflaming & lying to make it seem like there’s a war going on. He wants there to be a war going on here & he doesn’t care who gets hurt in it.
“There’s no riot outside. We have more so-called ‘unrest’ here when one of our teams wins a championship.”
He’s not angry at the looters who ransacked businesses … or the thugs who tried to kill police officers by hurling large bricks at them … or any of the other lawless, violent actions taken by the “peaceful protesters.”
Nothing shows it is truly about federal immigration policy like a looted Apple Store

The true purpose is anarchy and the destabilization of American society

Nor did he shed one of his many tears over the victims of illegal immigrant crime in recent years.
It’s noteworthy that there aren’t any jokes in his rant. He is a comedian, at least on paper.
To be fair, propagandists put yuks way down on the priority list.
