Jason Bateman: Trump Supporters ‘Need a Talking To’
'Ozark' alum lectures MAGA nation on far-Left MSNBC host's podcast

Jason Bateman isn’t an official part of The Hollywood Resistance.
The “Ozark” and “Arrested Development” star talks comedy, Hollywood and more on his popular “Smartless” podcast alongside Sean Hayes and Will Arnett.
Dig through the web and you’ll find some Bateman comments that reflect his liberal views. He’s hardly among the more outspoken celebrities when it comes to politics.
So it’s surprising to see the Emmy winner drag MAGA voters, even as he admitted that doing so represents the “third rail” of celebrity politics.
Media superstar Megyn Kelly shared a shocking snippet from low-rated MSNBC host Nicole Wallace’s new podcast, “The Best People.” Bateman joined the show for its premiere episode last week, and the subject naturally came to President Donald Trump.
Do you ever see a day, and I know this is kind of a third rail for politics, but at what point, if ever, do you think this story would change from reporting on the outrageousness of Trump and his actions, his decisions, his words, and instead moved to the people that have voted for him twice? [emphasis added] And I know that goes back to the whole story of deplorables and like, as soon as that happened, everyone just backed off and don’t ever talk bad about, you know, America and the 80 million. But he’s never changed, he’s always been the same. He didn’t do a 180 and duped everybody when he got to the White House. It’s the people that have put him there and then put him there again that really deserve a great deal of responsibility and a talking to, I’m sorry. And I say that with love, they are our neighbors, as I said before. And I know that they are, you know, deservedly aggrieved and whatnot. But there’s another way to do it.
He later described the Right as split between MAGA and “Republicans,” ignoring the obvious, and sizable, crossover between the two.
The actor also ignored how his fellow Democrats called President George W. Bush “Hitler” … along with Mitt Romney, President Ronald Reagan and. more. Also memory holed? How MAGA attracted a wide coalition of voters, even former Democrats like Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Elon Musk is merely the latest Hitler to his chums.
Kelly and guest Charlie Kirk skewered Bateman for his comments.
“To me, he’s just like Michelle Obama. We made you rich beyond your wildest imagination,” Kelly said. “He’s received nothing but love from the right half of this country who never gave two s***s about his politics … what is their reward? He feels the need to take a massive dump all over them. It’s so offensive. It’s so out of touch. It’s so ungrateful.”
Bateman remains a world-class talent, and his dry sense of humor has powered plenty of projects. Think his iconic Michael Bluth character from “Arrested Development” and his coal-black directorial triumph “Bad Words.”
This line from the Wallace podcast, however, might be his finest hour as a comic actor.
I happen to think that MSNBC doesn’t drift from the truth. They just have this immense amount of really interesting, solid facts to talk about.

Editor’s Note: It’s a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but it’s never been more necessary given the sorry state of the corporate press. If you’re enjoying Hollywood in Toto, I hope you’ll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our Tip Jar.
All the magats in here are so triggered. It’s hilarious!
By Justine’s dumber brother?
I think not
Hey Jason I was a fan until now and I will never watch anything you do past or future. I live in Pensacola Florida and I am 66 years old. I would love to “talk” with you so please come see me because when we are done “talking” you will lose your tds and actually will become a man not a over privileged asshole.
You sound like a little whiny magat b****.
Come talk to me and I will teach you a lesson you will never forget, all you azzholes in fakeville have no clue what is going on and all you do is parrot each other because there is not an original thought in your head.
Jason, you are a king-size BLEEP. Take some of these illegals home with you if you care so much.
who is he?
Jason Bateman should stick to drug dealing and casinos in the Ozarks. He seemed to be pretty good at that. His political skills are non existent because he lives in a bubble, surround by yes men and he knows absolutely ZERO about your world or mine!
That’s an interesting choice of words. He isn’t saying that they need a discussion, or debate, or a lively exchange of ideas, he’s saying that they need an ideologically-driven lecture. Neither side needs “a talkin’ to,” Jason, but both sides would benefit from a discussion.
I get rich people thinking workers are suckers. But if you’re in entertainment you ought to understand workers are your customers. Hating on your customers? FAFO
Just another reason to stop watching movies. TV, news…
These people and their over-inflated egos need to see their income drop when 75%of the country decide to stop supporting them.
I quit 4 years ago.
Sounds like he’s trying to pull a Pedro Pascal. Trash Orange Man Bad and his supporters, the movie and TV offers come pouring in.
My comments don’t seem to make it in here anymore, have no idea what happened. Maybe I smell bad. Well, here’s my take anyway.
Jason Bateman, a big influencer in Hollywood has a hard time imagining anyone in working-class America would disagree with him. In my world, that means the one needing talking to is Jason Bateman,
Cheers, have a great week everybody.
this guy is a bernie supporter. i really don’t care what he thinks. I’m sure he’s worth millions and he backs a marxist. please.
Thanks Jason. Really interesting take. Especially from a guy who reads words that other people write down for him. Are you the new propaganda speaker now that De Niro has been used up? How many parts were you offered to give us a “talking to”?
