Jennifer Lawrence’s Intolerance Hurts the Country. Here’s Why

Oscar-winner's anti-Republican rant is worse than divisive virtue signaling

Tucker Carlson is having a hearty laugh over Jennifer Lawrence’s confession she has nightmares about the Fox News host.

Carlson mocked the Oscar winner on Tuesday’s edition of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” riffing on Lawrence’s claim that he invades her nightmares.

“When you decide to work in television, you lose control of a lot of things … Foremost, the way other people perceive you. So can it really be your fault, are you really responsible, if major Hollywood starlets dream about you?”

You can’t blame Carlson for leaning into her confession. It’s no laughing matter for the rest of us.

We’re living it, day by day, fractured friendship after fractured friendship. The country is splintering from tribalism run amok, fed by a corrupt press and hyperbolic pols on both sides of the aisle.

Our president, a leader who vowed to unify the country, just unofficially declared war on half the nation before bumbling through a series of walk backs.

Late-night television is so divisive it abandons jokes to score partisan uppercuts.

Enter Jennifer Lawrence, who just made everything worse.

The “Hunger Games” star’s new Vogue interview, which got picked up by every media outlet imaginable, finds her dumping gasoline on the culture war fires.

She said the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade, plus a certain Fox News superstar, has her at war with her own family.

“I just worked so hard in the last five years to forgive my dad and my family and try to understand: It’s different. The information they are getting is different. Their life is different.” Lawrence said. “I’ve tried to get over it and I really can’t. I can’t. [Emphasis added] I’m sorry I’m just unleashing, but I can’t f*** with people who aren’t political anymore. You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people….”

“I don’t want to disparage my family, but I know that a lot of people are in a similar position with their families. How could you raise a daughter from birth and believe that she doesn’t deserve equality? How?”

You start by having an open conversation with those who disagree with your worldview. Then, you begin reading respectable news sources outside the New York Times/Washington Post axis. Next, you do your level best to have an open mind.

Then, slowly, you learn the information you’re getting is not only different, but some of it may be more propaganda than fact. Start with the media’s dismissal of the Hunter Biden laptop, and then work backward.

Bill Maher rips media over Hunter Biden cover-up

Except for all her “hard work” she’s not interested in that.

It gets worse.

There’s no reason for Lawrence to get political in a Vogue feature story. The interview is tied to her upcoming Apple TV+ film, “Causeway,” the first from her own production company. She stars as a soldier transitioning from the battlefield to life in her New Orleans hometown.

Lawrence mentioned politics to gin up support from her fellow progressive stars. It’s a career choice, and arguably a smart one considering the state of the industry.

It still hurts the country, and apparently she doesn’t care.

Conservatives will blast her comments. Liberals will either nod in agreement or think she’s gone too far.

Everyone, though, will acknowledge the obvious. It’s another sign of a country teetering toward a breakup.

Yes, Lawrence is just one celebrity. And no, celebrities can’t stop climate change, gun crimes or other maladies. They can’t even pull off an Oscars ceremony without a physical altercation or getting the Best Picture winner wrong.

They do have bully pulpits, though, and when their interviews go viral the messages reach the masses. For better and worse.

Lawrence’s message is clear. Hate half of the country that doesn’t align with your political party, even if they’re your own flesh and blood.

It’s an awful, terrible no good memo delivered by a talented actress who should otherwise be happy with her life. She’s a new mama with an A-list career and all the wealth celebrity can offer.

And, at 32, she has decades of screen excellence in front of her.

Yet a Fox News personality invades her dreams, and she’s so intolerant she can’t share empathy with her family.

Where does that leave the rest of us?

  1. Her derangement can be summed up in this: “to forgive my dad and my family”. Forgive someone for not having the same opinion as you? Especially members of her family. There’s a whole lot of bad sectors on that hard drive.

  2. JLaw hasn’t been a money make in years. Since Red Sparrow bombed she hasn’t been called on to lead a big budget movie. Even the most recent David O Russell movie was made without her assistance. At this point can we start saying “has been”?

    1. I think the last hunger games underperformed after some I’ll timed politics from JLawrence. She died as a Star-star then. She had a few in production that died on release. She had a role in ensembles that gave her a bit of limelight but I don’t think Hollywood considers her a blockbuster lead anymore.

Has been yes. She could fight her way back but she chose to dig deeper. Dumb kid.

      1. She also complained about DiCaprio getting paid 20% more than her in a movie recently. It was also very important to her that she have top billing.

  3. “How could you raise a daughter from birth and believe that she doesn’t deserve equality? How?”

Well, you could be a practicing Muslim.

  4. No direct focus on the most terrible part of her comments – “You live in the United States of America. You have to be political.”

In other words, you do not have the option of just saying, “Look, this isn’t my thing. You wanna be an activist, go activate. Knock yourself out. But my choice is too live my life for other twisted and sick things, like my family, my business, my church, what have you. Now go do your thing and leave me alone.”

“NO”, says the inestimable Ms. Lawrence. You do not have such an option. You MUST be political (on one side only, of course). And you WILL comply. That which is not forbidden is mandatory.

The distilled essence of totalitarianism, right there. Growing upon these shores with astonishing speed.

    1. You’re spot on. It’s part of the left’s BS spiel of “silence is violence.” They want to get you coming and going. If you say something that doesn’t align with what they’re saying 100%, you’re an evil Nazi. If you don’t say anything then they automatically assume you’re against them and also an evil Nazi. So you can’t just mind your own business and you can’t disagree with them even the smallest bit. That right there is fascism at its finest.

  5. Wouldn’t know her if I saw her.
I understand this is a show biz site, but the only way to fix show biz is to stop partaking of the product.
What to shut her up, or at least lessen her relevance, then stop watching her movies.
This is too easy , yet people still open their wallets to holllywood and pro sports, the two biggest supporters of every anti American cause there is
    Mindless people amaze me.

  6. “How could you raise a daughter from birth and believe that she doesn’t deserve equality?”

What’s equality? Women have babies, men don’t. There’s no “equality” in this context, so it’s a non sequitir to use the term. Her parents likely thought they had brought her up to respect human life from it’s very beginning.

  7. Amazingly, Hollywood types have no clue what life is like outside of Hollywood. They have a difficult time understanding how anyone else thinks. Jennifer Lawrence says she has a hard time forgiving her family. Perhaps she should try understanding her family.

  8. The antidote can be found in the real landmark speech of 2022, Bari Weiss’s “The New Founders American Needs.” See her Honestly podcast for links.

And stop pretending, Mr. Toto, that the “both sides at equal fault” thing is even a third or a fifth of the way true.

  9. I used to be a fan. She started out great–the no-BS charmer from Louisville who gave it back hilariously with her brothers and her father. She saw the Hollywood game for what it was. And then she didn’t.

    She went Hollywood.

    So long, kid.

    1. You must be confused…this isn’t MSNBC, CNN, NYT, WAPO, ROLLING STONE, CBS, NBC, CBS or NPR. Your post is self refuting.

  10. This is such a great point. Apparently, the left’s talking points are to disparage anyone, anyone that disagrees with them. This is Communist level, social reform first rhetoric. Add one Biden speech, sprinkle in a few Hollywood empty skulls echoing the talking points, and the results are that the left can now justify anything. Gulags even. Think it can’t happen? Look at what is happening to several Americans that took a joy stroll through the capital. Mostly encouraged by the capital police! Or the left’s comments on those that chose not to inject experimental vaccines into their bodies. If the left were in total power, gulags for the rest of us would not be far off.

I’m a conservative Trump supporter. I don’t want to lock up those that disagree with me! Live and let live. I believe good triumphs over evil in the end. But mistreating those that disagree with me isn’t good…. Its evil.

  11. Jen Lawerance, has not only lost her mind, but has finally revealed how brainless she really is….Thanks Jen for giving me another reason to keep “my money in my pocket”. At this point, her political bias is just proving another actor they do not really matter…(A true Biden follower… I wished she would take all of her Obama/Biden/Clinton) followers to “One of the Islamic counties” who really care what women think and say. She and they may last…. until they opened their mouth!)

So just leave….with the rest of the Biden Dividers….Enjoy your time in the spot light your fan base is dropping fast.

  12. Decades of screen excellence ahead of her? She’s 32… that means she really only has 8 years as a Hollywood A-lister ahead of her. The town is notoriously unfair to women over 40 and I don’t see her being an exception.

    1. You raise a good point, John. Hollywood can be cruel to women after 40. I think things are getting better, or perhaps the exception are obscuring the rules (Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep…)
