Gina Carano Compared U.S. to ’30s-era Germany. Biden Proved Her Point
'My Son Hunter' star’s social media warning predicted Biden's MAGA attacks
Playing the Nazi card went from verboten to de rigueur in the Trump era.
Democrats normalized it to slam the unorthodox Commander in Chief. Comedian Louis C.K. unofficially began the trend, comparing Donald Trump to Hitler months before the real estate mogul’s 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton.
A Democrat pile-on followed, from Hollywood elites and political pundits to major news organizations.
And few, if any, clutched their pearls at the comparisons.
Yet when actress Gina Carano compared Germany in the 1930s to modern America the reaction proved hyperbolic. Her Disney bosses called “The Mandalorian” star’s social media posts “abhorrent and unacceptable” and fired her.
Carano lost her talent agency, UTA, and her professional future looked bleak before The Daily Wire hired her to produce and star in “Terror on the Prairie.”
Except Carano hadn’t played the Nazi card like her peers, none of whom have received an ounce of punishment for their comments.
Carano didn’t label any politician, Left or Right, as Hitler or Nazi-esque. She worried that conservatives and free thinkers alike were being treated like the “other” in western culture, and she feared what might happen next.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…. even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
Her post had more nuance, and empathy, than peers who called Trump supporters Nazis.
Still, even some conservatives recoiled at her evoking Nazi-era Germany.
Carano, now starring in “My Son Hunter,” made those comments in February 2021. The America she described is inching closer to reality less than two years later.
Here is President Joe Biden, in a landmark Sept. 1 speech meant to address the nation’s soul, describing those who don’t align with his party’s worldview.
“Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal…Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic…
“There’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans. And that is a threat to this country … MAGA Republicans have made their choice. They embrace anger. They thrive on chaos. They live not in the light of truth, but in the shadow of lies. Together, we can choose a different path.”
Biden uttered those words before a blood-red background that countless social media users compared to Nazi Germany.

This wasn’t a Hollywood liberal or MSNBC casting aspersions on the modern GOP. The Commander in Chief used the full force of his bully pulpit to “other” half the voting population.
MAGA nation is a threat to America. Period.
Biden’s rhetoric, which he clumsily tried to walk back 24 hours later, didn’t happen in a vacuum. MSNBC commentators, who cheered Biden’s speech, routinely describe Trump voters in a dehumanizing fashion.
Pop culture similarly treats conservatives like the “other,” people to be dismissed or worse. The Hollywood Blacklist 2.0 is very real, and new evidence of it appears regularly.
Right-leaning actors keep quiet, fearing their careers could crumble for sharing conservative views. Their liberal peers never stand up for their right to free expression. Not Clooney, Hanks, Streep or DiCaprio.
Even stories tangential to pop culture reinforce Carano’s point.
“Euphoria” actress Sydney Sweeney had to perform damage control when social media users savaged her family for potentially being conservative. The star’s mother celebrated her 60th birthday at a bash where a fellow family member wore a “Blue Lives Matter” shirt to support police officers.
Sydney Sweeney fans are expressing disappointment and shock that her family appears to lean conservative, this after she posted photos and video from a hoedown-themed party for her mom, Lisa. https://t.co/eY2N9p4WFg

Even more “horrifying?” Attendees donned “Make 60 Great Again” hats, a riff on President Trump’s MAGA catch phrase.
The social media mob tried to cancel Sweeney, who meekly asked fans not to insinuate her family’s political choices. She didn’t defend their right to align with conservatives. That would have made the problem worse, and the 24-year-old knows better.

Big Tech is putting the squeeze on Truth Social, Donald Trump’s attempt to build a Twitter alternative that won’t punish conservatives for being conservative. That comes after several tech giants, including Amazon, similarly punished Twitter alternative Parler last year.
That platform refused to punish conservative thought, too.
Have a contrarian view on COVID-19 or even Dr. Anthony Fauci? Chances are the Biden administration will try to erase it from the public square. Those views often come from conservative Americans, a group who routinely suffer censorial efforts by Twitter and other platforms.
Even conservative humorists live under Big Tech’s boot.

Perhaps the worst example that magnifies Carano’s point? A prominent conservative being attacked for … existing.
Ben Shapiro stopped by Podcast Movement’s annual conference late last month to meet fans and visit his fellow Daily Wire employees. The event showcases the biggest podcasts in the country, including Shapiro’s wildly popular program.
Shapiro’s presence at the event coaxed Podcast Movement’s brain trust to apologize to those triggered by his appearance.
“Hi folks, we owe you an apology before sessions kick off for the day…Yesterday afternoon, Ben Shapiro briefly visited the PM22 expo area near The Daily Wire booth. Though he was not registered or expected, we take full responsibility for the harm done by his presence.”
Those of you who called this “unacceptable” are right. In 9 wonderful years growing and celebrating this medium, PM has made mistakes. The pain caused by this one will always stick with us. We promise that sponsors will be more carefully considered moving forward.”
Shapiro didn’t say anything outrageous during his time at the event. He took pictures with fans and walked around the hall.
That’s it.
He’s not an Alex Jones-like figure spreading baseless conspiracy theories. He’s a smart, mainstream conservative with a large, reasonable following. And, according to Podcast Movement, the Jewish intellectual can cause harm simply by showing up.
What’s the next logical step for that kind of thinking?
More social media hate aimed at roughly half the country? Or does that ginned-up rage need a physical outlet?
We’ve already seen Trump supporters targeted for violence, conservative Supreme Court justices endure vulgar protests outside their homes and one justice face a literal death threat.
That was all before Biden suggested half the country represents an existential threat to the U.S.
This isn’t Germany circa the 1930s, thank heavens, but it’s closer than many people assume. Someone deserves a belated apology, at the very least.
It can’t be done via Twitter, though. Carano’s Twitter account got deactivated in the last 24 hours.
This is an eye-opening comparison that really makes you think. It’s alarming how the rhetoric and actions in politics can echo historical events. Carano’s perspective challenges us to reflect on current societal trends and the importance of safeguarding our freedoms.
I completely agree with Gina Carano. The U.S. is in a lot of ways like Germany in the 1930s. We are both divided and we are both controlled by a few people.
Imagine the kerfuffle that would result if they had had an actual conservative at the Podcast Movement con, instead of the Littlest Chickenhawk.
You have a typo…when writing about Amazon and Parler, you used the word “punish” when I think you meant “publish.” Amazon “refused to publish.” You have written Amazon “refused to punish.”
Appreciate you checking in on this, but it’s meant to say ‘punish.’ Amazon punished Parler for not censoring more voices on its platform. The move was allegedly about violent posts, but Twitter routinely lets violent posts thrive on its platform and doesn’t face any restrictions or cancelations.
How is Biden wrong? Which part of “not believing election results and attacking the Capitol” is normal? How can a nation exist where people do not believe in election results and incite violence to force the results they want to see?
So, you agree that Hillary’s election loss claims were way out of line?
The democrats spent two years “not believing election results”, Many on the left still believe that Russia stole the 2016 election. #notmypresident was a liberal ideology. Progressives spent half a year ” inciting violence to force the results they want to hear”. So now please do explain how those things were somehow different…
The same nation that can’t exist with stolen ekections and demoKKKrats that spend millions to fight investigations into hidden election results. The same nation that has demoKKKrats rioting across it and denying election results they don’t like even they have ZERO evidence to support it. GFY, baby kiIIing, groomer bolsh filth.
So you support a dictator name Joe Biden then?
He forgot the party that attempted a coup using a phony Russian dossier, and the previous administration spying on him, the FBI altering an email and lying to the court to get a FISA warrant. Guess it is okay when democrats do it.
Neil. 2016, Hilary didn’t believe the election results, non did many Democrats, as a result we got Antifia and BLM destroying cities and people. The MAGA community is a kind peaceful group of people and several were killed by Capital police during the J6 peaceful protest. Fake news isn’t good for the brain. Stop watching CNN and the View.
Mass Formation Psychosis.
“The truth doesn’t care about our needs or wants, it doesn’t care about our governments, our ideologies, our religions. It will lie in wait for all time. And this, at last, is the gift of Chernobyl. Where I once would fear the cost of truth, now I only ask: What is the cost of lies?” (HBO Chernobyl series)
I am terribly afraid that we will all find out the cost of lies very shortly.
If Trump were really Hitler do you think she would have dared to mock him.
In the time of Hitler what was the fate of those that mocked him.
It seems to me her performance betrays her premise. The fact that she can
openly mock and ridicule President Trump proves that he is not Hitler.
I’ve never liked Alex Jones’s show. He’s always yelling at the audience. Just not for me. You characterized him as pushing “baseless conspiracy theories”, a deplorable. But, it seems to me that many of those theories have been shown to have solid bases.
It appears that you are showing the same prejudices which you criticize.
Agree
FUN FACTS: Democrats reference slavery, discrimination, segregation, racism, disenfranchisement, Nazis, authoritarianism and dictators then accuse Republicans of behaving in these ways, when only Democrats did these things to others while Republicans never did?
I guess you never heard of the “Southern Strategy” from Nixon. Look it up and as yourself why the “Republicans” of today have a real hold on the southern states. Educated yourself.
Nixon’s “southern strategy” was about appealing to the non-racist whites in the urban south because the south had been changing from an agricultural society to an industrial society. Many northerners were moving south to places like Tampa, Atlanta, Raleigh Durham and Houston. Nixon’s strategy was to not campaign in the rural, racist south, but to campaign in the urban south to win over the displaced northerners and the non-racist southerners. The proof of this is that he won the urban south, he lost the rural deep south which went for George Wallace in 1968: not Richard Nixon.
P.S. – I educated myself. Now, it’s your turn (good luck with that).
Yep, you support a racist, Flannigan. That racist’s name is Joe Biden.
Debunked and racist, that theory belongs in the garbage along with your garbage president. You Leftists pretend to have a monopoly on compassion and tolerance. Yet, you remain silent when the harm of your party’s wasteful and dehumanizing “dependency” programs are there for all to see: Every single Democrat Party run city in the USA are battlegrounds, where men, women, and children are injured, assaulted, raped, and murdered every day. Are you proud of your party’s record? Your party continues to claim America is systemically racist when it’s your party running things. You say you have compassion, while millions of unvetted people stream across our border. Hundreds of those beautiful people died on the journey and untold thousands were raped, robbed, assaulted, and murdered. If America is such a racist and horrible country then why are millions risking life and limb to come here? Democrats are filled with hate, envy, jealously, self-hatred and an extreme hatred of America. Shame on you.
The so-called southern strategy was a three seat flip. It was made up by Democrats running from their history. Look at them now, they don’t wear the hood, but they see us as less than, perpetual victims always in need of help from white saviors. Their Margaret Sanger worship centers are primarily black neighborhoods. We are 13% of the population and that number has been static for decades. Biden is a racist, with his “you ain’t black” and many other statements. Southern strategy my a**!
As the South became more Republican, it became less racist. Oops… the parties never smoked or snorted the crushed horn of unicorn, transforming ideologies. This revisionist propaganda is peddled by Marxist College professors and is greedily consumed by brainwashed groupthink low information liberal fascist Klan loving baby killing DemoKKKrat plantation slaves. NEXT!
There is no rational way to ascribe fascism to the right other than deflection. The Nazis were the National SOCIALIST German Workers’ Party, it’s right there in their name. Look up Hitler implemented from a policy perspective and you’ll find a lot of socialism. He was very much a supporter of collectivism, he simply excluded people he hated or needed as scapegoats. Everything else was socialism.
Communism, socialism and fascism differ only slightly, mostly in methods. They fought in the early 20th century not because they were so different, they fought because each wanted to be THE leading philosophy of the progressive movement. They all embraced eugenics – the idea that “undesirable people” should be bred out of existence, to put it in the most basic terms. Democrats in this country did, Nazis in Germany did. Progressives only distanced themselves from fascism and eugenics when World War II happened and it would have hurt them electorally to be associated with fascists. But if you look you can find many prominent progressive politicians saying nice things about fascists, like FDR praising Benito Mussolini.
Gullible democrats think this is a liberal thing. It is not. They are childish useful foolish tools of the globalist elite ruling class who have corporatized our media and government to control their stupid, small, childish minds. Pathetically idiotic lot. Never learn – lie after lie after lie.
I think they’re Democrats because their parents were. In PA I see it all the time, but the times they are a changin’!
I agree with everything you said. Despite that, this film is promoted by Republicans who are just as guilty of the exact same thing. This movie being an example of it.
The only difference between the screaming monkeys of antifa and blm and those suit and tie socialists of the democrat party is the fact that the suit coat types prefer to have others perform the violence.
