This Week in Celebrity Virtue Signaling

'Frankenstein' star's hilarious anti-Disney swipe must be seen to be believed

Oscar Isaac signed on to play a Han Solo-style hero for 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Could you blame him?

Isaac wasn’t a “name” at that point, and the rebooted “Star Wars” saga was the biggest film of the moment. Who knew the saga would emasculate his Poe Dameron character in “The Last Jedi” and ensure he never rises to the level of Han, Luke and Leia?

Now, Isaac, starring in the latest iteration of “Frankenstein” on Netflix, isn’t sure he wants to get back in bed with Disney … at all. Why? Well, it’s one of three new stories that show actors virtue signaling to their heart’s content.

Isaac says Disney’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel made him rethink his ties to the Mouse House and a possible return to the “Star Wars” galaxy.

“I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great.”

It’s worth noting that the interview in question happened just days after ABC briefly suspended Kimmel for misleading viewers about the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk. The interview went live this week, though.

If there’s proof that Isaac similarly complained about Disney playing footsie with China or shooting “Mulan” near an actual concenrtration camp, please include it in the comments section below.

Good luck.

Not to be outdone, actor Justice Smith is pushing for woke-era casting rules for Hollywood. The actor, who has suddenly found a ton of sizable roles in recent years (“Detective Pikachu,” “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t”), heralded his overrated 2024 film “I Saw the TV Glow” for its correct casting decisions.

His character was a metaphor for the trans experience, he explained, which is why the role shouldn’t have gone to a trans performer. Otherwise, casting decisions must follow his guidelines.

“I’m really passionate about those kinds of politics and trans people being allowed to play trans characters. But I am also passionate about trans people telling their stories the way they want to tell them, you know. So that was a bigger priority for me.”

And then there’s “The White Lotus” alum Aimee Lou Wood. You might remember her for complaining about a “Saturday Night Live” sketch that poked fun of her atypical smile.

Now, Wood is trying to hop aboard the wobbly woke bus.

The actress cheered on a message from photographer Misan Harriman who attacked Sydney Sweeney for the infamous American Eagle jeans ad. The far-far Left raged against the spot because the “Christy” star played on the words “genes” and “jeans.”

The not-so-subtle joke? The curvaceous Sweeney has great genes.

White Supremacy, the radicals cried. Sweeney said nothing about the faux controversy, and she later refused to apologize to a woke GQ scribe.

Wood liked Harriman’s screed on social media, which included:

“At least recognise the harm your jeans campaign has caused black folk, the undertone of the campaign is that your genetics are superior to others, the play on words is clear as day and racists LOVED it!”

The starlet also shared a nauseous/vomiting emoji to illustrate her point.

Feminism once meant supporting women and their agency. Now, it means kicking women who don’t follow the progressive playbook to the letter.

Three stars. Three virtue signals for their industry’s approval. And more are on the way, no doubt.
