Why ‘What Did I Miss?’ Alum Agreed to More Grueling Isolation

The returning contestant to Greg Gutfeld's wild game show spills on his motivation

Sunny Mujovic said appearing on FOX Nation’s “Greg Gutfeld’s What Did I Miss?” was one of the biggest challenges that he ever faced.

“It’s even harder than what you see on TV,” Mujovic said of the daring game show. “What Did I Miss?” forces contestants to live in a group home for three months without social media, news or other information from the outside world.

Then, they gather to answer whether recent news stories actually happened (did American forces capture Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro?) during their isolation, or were they dreamed up by FOX Nation scribes.

“You’re sitting there, missing your family, your wife … it’s complete isolation,” Mujovic said of the pre-show experience. “Is my wife OK? Is my Mom OK?”

So why would he sign up for the show’s second season, even if he initially told himself he’d never repeat the experience? It’s simple.

Redemption.

Mujovic didn’t win the show’s grand prize – $100,000 the first time around. He got cut during the initial elimination round. That didn’t sit well with him.

“I really wanted to see if I could go back and win it,” he confessed.

Yes, having gone through that isolation gave him an edge on the new contestants, but the game show element remains the same.

“There is nothing you can do to prepare for this. Every time, it’s gonna take luck,” he said.

The three-episode second season returned on April 27 and wraps with the May 11 installment.

The show offers one perk, no matter where a contestant ends up by the final episode. A little social media detox is never a bad thing, Mujovic learned. His work as a web site designer has him glued to his phone, so the isolation proved eye-opening.

“After a week or two, you feel liberated,” he said. In fact, he found that after shooting the game show he relied less and less on his phone and began sleeping better.

“The only thing I worried about was, do I have Hot Pockets to eat downstairs?” he said of his group home living. The show wrapped weeks ago, but he’s still feeling its unique pull.

“Now, when I come home, I put my phone in my drawer. ‘We’re gonna enjoy our Sunday. No phones at the dinner table,’” he said of his new approach.

His phone withdrawal had some curious markers, something he said other contestants felt, too. He said he could “feel” the device in his right side pocket after a couple of weeks, even though it wasn’t there.

“That’s how addicted we were to using it … that’s no bulls***,” he said.

Mujovic wasn’t a news junkie even before signing up for “What Did I Miss?” This experience made him keenly aware of Fake News in the culture. He also grew to appreciate aspects of a certain world leader.

“I’m not political at all .. but whether you like or hate [President] Trump, there will never be a president like him, ever. What he does, how he thinks, the stuff that he says or does. That’s what makes this game show so hard.”

SPOILER ALERT

Mujovic’s first attempt at the $100,000 prize failed, a key reason why he signed up for the show’s second season.

This time, he either cracked the code or proved that the second time is truly the charm.

Either way, he knows where he’ll be using at least some of the prize money. He and his wife have been trying to start a family, and they’ll use the FOX Nation cash to help move that process along.
