7 Dumbest Celebrity Reactions to Vegas Massacre

No one does “hot takes” worse than celebrities.

Name the hot button issue, and chances are a star will have something downright stupefying to share. Often it comes in ALL CAPS … but not always.

This happened again after Stephen Paddock, 64, shot into a crowded concert audience in Las Vegas Sunday night, killing 59 and wounding hundreds.

Awful. Tragic. Heartbreaking.

And the instinct to respond, to offer up some kind of solution to gun shootings, is understandable. The following celebrity reactions hardly fit into that category. Instead, they’re just plain dumb, ugly or a toxic combination of the two.

Here’s two brilliant takedowns of the former Obama operative’s “logic”:

On with more dumb reactions:

Here’s a perfect takedown of that dumb argument:

Now, more inane reactions:

“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah weighed in on the “time” to talk about gun violence:

“When is the time?” Noah asked. “And also, if you say after a mass shooting is ‘never the time’, you’ll never have the conversation in America, because there’s a mass shooting almost every single day. So when is the time?

“When a plane crashes, we talk about plane safety immediately. When a bridge collapses, we talk about infrastructure immediately,” Noah added. “We seem to do everything to avoid talking about guns.”

Does it even need to be said that American conversations on guns have been roiling for years? That we rigorously talk about guns across every possible platform and will continue to do so?

Finally, here’s the most disingenuous comment from Kimmel. It doesn’t necessarily fit into the “dumb” category, but it needs to be exposed all the same:

“I want this to be a comedy show,” he promised. “I hate talking about stuff like this. I just want to give you something to laugh about at night. But that has become increasingly difficult lately. And lately, it feels like someone opened a window into hell.”

Balderdash.

Kimmel is loving every ounce of his pundit transformation. He gets to pontificate on the news of the day, bash his ideological enemies and bask in press adulation.

He didn’t want that Las Vegas tragedy to happen, of course. No sane soul thinks that. But he’ll weaponize it as aggressively as his Hollywood peers.

UPDATE: The dumbest celebrity comment, by far, comes from “Miss Sloane” herself, Jessica Chastain:

  1. Now, where the hell is Ms. Chastain going that she’s waiting six months for a friggin’ X-ray? I’ll be more than happy to refer her to several doctors around here who can get the job done in the same afternoon.

And Jimmy Kimmel is finding it harder and harder to be entertaining? Not that I found him particularly so… once he got away from Adam Corolla and women jumping on trampolines, I found his schtick rather dull. Well, Jimmy, if you feel you can’t do the job they pay you for, maybe you should move on.

And I’m terribly sorry, Lena, but maybe you should keep your alleged intellect to yourself.

  2. Cut the cable. Cancel subscriptions. Don’t go to movies. Or you can keep on subsidizing these freaks.

  3. “I want this to be a comedy show. I’m just too arrogant and egotistical to allow that, though, so instead I’m going to use it as a platform to shove my politics down your throats. Enjoy.”

  4. We should have an honest discussion with the NRA.

Kimmel/Noah/Colbert should invite a representative from the NRA onto their show and ask one simple question:

Could this incident in Las Vegas have been constitutionally and legally prevented, and how? Challenge the NRA to find a way (and don’t interrupt while they are answering).

Let the NRA suggest what needs to be done. If you need any clarification or have more questions, state them clearly and allow the NRA rep to respond without interruption. Then, thank them for their contribution to the discussion and move on.

Save your own critique for the next night’s monologue.

  5. Ironic coming from the originator of “The Man Show” with the show closing on girls in bikinis jumping on trampolines. This is the guy I’m supposed to take my moral cue from ? Sorry, I think not. There is not one person on earth that Jimmy Kimmel is persuading to change their mind.

  6. Here’s how the ‘conversation on guns’ always goes with a lib after a massacre.

Lib – ‘Let’s have a conversation on guns.’

    Me – ‘Ok.’

Lib – ‘Universal background checks. Regulate gun shows out of existence. Ban ‘assault weapons.’

    Me – ‘Fxck off.’

  7. On another thread, I asked when the Johnny Carson’s and Jay Leno’s were supplanted by these false pundits with no sense of humor and no real understanding of their pontifications. Why do we ever let that happen?

    1. Simple. We let the Progs take over K-12 education. Now we are in two generations without real history or critical thinking. Feelings reign.

      1. But what terrifies the left is that Obama was not able to get hold of hte web and eradicate the real history. It only take a small fraction of people to get a message and lead. That terrifies the left since they are only able to control sheep, not self-reliant, freedom loving, historically knowledgeable leaders.

  8. The FACT here is White Males will not identify White Males as terrorists

I have absolutely no problem identifying Bill Ayers and James Hodgkinson as terrorists. The trouble is the left won’t identify leftist terrorists as terrorists.

    1. I don’t recall anyone having a problem labeling John Walker Lindt, a white American, as a terrorist. But he was a Muslim so we all know they don’t count as white, because Muslim is totally a race according to the left.

  9. It’s like they took all the stupid, evil people in the US and put the label }”Democrat” on them – except that they self-selected

  10. It’s to the point where, sane soul or not, I’m not sure they don’t want this to happen, based on their reactions.

    1. They believe that their secluded mansions and their jets and yachts protect them from repercussions. Insane self-delusion in this age of satellites and drones and beyond pervasive surveillance.

And they think that if they loose plague, violence and terrorism on us, so that we are killed, that those same forces will somehow bypass them and allow them to be installed in their rightful place as rulers of their future utopia.

  11. Meanwhile, back in Europe:

    BARCELONA, Spain —

National police officers in riot gear, sent by the central government in Madrid from other parts of Spain, used rubber bullets and truncheons in some places as they fanned out across Catalonia, the restive northeastern region, to shut down polling stations and seize ballot boxes.

The clashes quickly spoiled what had been a festive, if expectant, atmosphere among voters, many of whom had camped inside polling stations and stayed on into late Sunday night, fearful that officers might seize ballot boxes.

    1. No, they always wait until they’re filthy rich before they start spouting off like that. Even if Kimmel’s show gets cancelled, he can go live on a tropical island for the rest of his life. It’s the people who work for him that will get screwed, but his own politics are way more important to him than their livelihoods.

      1. You’re absolutely right since he does view himself as some sort of feudal lord and, if exiled, too bad for his dependents.

    1. The ‘conversation’ they want is one sided where they tell me what to do and call me bad names. Oh, and they don’t even understand the subject. All in all, not a productive use of my time.

      1. When you see a lib and tell them they can read this, watch their eyes. You will see a curtain close on their gaze and you will have lost them. No narrative outside their propagandist lies is able to be read.

In this they are extremely like Islamofascism. In Islam even reading infidel doctrine can be viewed with severe reproach…naturally, since infidel doctrine exposes their agenda as lunacy.

    2. They want to yell at them and make them incapable of any response. In effect, silencing. And Alinsky, one of their gods, made it clear that not even the most extreme method of silencing was off the table in order to serve their cause.
