9 Sarah Silverman Tweets She Hopes You Forget

Sarah Silverman will soon host her own politically-charged talk show. Only it won’t be what you expect.

That’s according to the Variety.com report on Silverman’s deal with streaming giant Hulu.

“I Love You, America” will be a 10-week, half hour show letting the comedienne riff on the “political and emotional landscape,” the news outlet says.

Some might roll their eyes at that description. It’s easy to predict yet another progressive show lambasting anyone with an “R” in front of his or her title. Silverman is one of the more outspoken liberals in the comedy world.

Besides, who can forget her dolling up as Hitler early in Donald Trump’s presidential run?

This won’t be your standard Silverman project, Variety reports.

Though an avowed liberal, Silverman with this show is looking to connect with people who may not agree with her personal opinions through honesty, humor, genuine interest in others, and not taking herself too seriously. Keenly aware of the pitfalls of staying within one’s own political bubble, Silverman feels it’s crucial, now more than ever, to connect with un-like-minded people. She is teaming up with producers Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, and Funny or Die in creating a show setting out to expose the fact that we are all the same.

Could this be true? Is Silverman ready to stray from her political bubble and meet flyover country half way?

‘The Nightly Show’ RIP

That’s more or less what Larry Wilmore vowed when his “Nightly Show” debuted on Comedy Central two years ago. Wilmore promised a raging moderate shtick that would bring more voices to the conversation.

What happened?

A. He proved as progressive as his peers. The low point? He sat by while a panelist compared Sen. Ted Cruz to the KKK.

B. He got canned due to lousy ratings.

Another skeptical sign for Silverman’s new show? The creative team behind it. “I Love You, America” will be a FunnyOrDie.com joint. That’s the reliably partisan – and frequently vitriolic – humor site which cranked out propaganda videos for the Obama administration.

The site rarely mocks liberals, saving 98 percent of its anger for conservatives.

But Wait … There’s More

That’s not the main reason to greet the Variety account with skepticism. For starters, there are no direct quotes in the story.

More importantly, just peruse Silverman’s own Twitter feed. You’ll see just how far she’ll have to go in order to give conservatives a fair shake.

Are these Tweets (Note: two are retweets) the kind you’d expect from a performer willing to embrace her political foes?

(Warning: Adult language)

Has Silverman really had a change of heart over the last few days? Or did Variety simply fall for a line of blather meant to lure in more viewers, albeit temporarily?

  1. Her concept of different points of view may not be what non-idiots think it is. Her idea of being politically inclusive is giving voice to women for whom killing a baby still attached to it’s uterus by an umbilicus is murder.

  2. Shhhhhhyeah…. I don’t love her back.

Begone Silverman, you desperately unfunny gadfly.

    You suck. Badly.

  3. Silverman is just like Amy Schumer: A loudmouth, crass, vulgar mouthpiece for liberal nonsense. And like Schumer, her days are numbered.
