Joke Police Savage Bill Maher for Ariana Grande Cracks
Same reporters ignore comic's withering attacks on radical Francesca Hong

This just in – Bill Maher told a joke and it got a mixed response from his HBO audience.
The Legacy Media went into overdrive this weekend after the “Real Time with Bill Maher” host made not one but two cracks aimed at pop superstar Ariana Grande’s weight.
Woodward and Bernstein, watch out!
Bill Maher made a joke about Ariana Grande’s weight during Friday’s episode of “Real Time,” and drew mixed reactions from his live audience:

This site doesn’t generally comment on a celebrity’s appearance. It’s still obvious that the talented singer/actress’ gaunt state is notable and distressing.
And, since she’s a public figure, she’s fair game for insults. It’s not always nice, but it’s the way a free society works. Telling comedians they can’t tell select jokes is the wrong approach. Period.
Yet multiple media outlets attacked Maher for daring to tell the jokes in the first place.
Why? Several reasons.
The Legacy Media did all it could to support Cancel Culture and its insidious impact on free speech. It’s undeniable. Reporters “resurfaced” old videos, shamed artists for saying the “wrong” thing and rarely, if ever, defended their free speech rights.
This is just more of the same. It won’t work, though.
The woke movement will likely linger for some time, but its cultural power has been dramatically reduced. Comedians, by and large, can tell whatever jokes they want now.
The return of the ribald roast format proves it.

So as much as reporters want to shame and possibly hurt Maher, their blows will bounce right off of him.
HBO appears to have his back. He just won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. And he’s the only mainstream late-night host willing to mock the modern Democratic Party.
And that’s the reason that matters most of all. Mainstream media reporters are part of the DNC at this point in American culture.
That’s why Legacy Media outlets spent weeks mourning the slow-motion cancellation of “The Late Show.” It’s why they celebrate virtually anything Jimmy Kimmel does, knowing he, too, exists to promote the progressive brand.
So any chance to attack Maher, a left-leaning comic who mocks his own side, must be embraced.
The other notable thing about these stories? They ignored what else Maher said this weekend.
Maher roasted Francesca Hong, Wisconsin’s farcical candidate for governor. He torched her 180-degree turn on Thanksgiving. First, she wanted the beloved holiday cancelled. Then, a day or so later, she proclaimed it’s her favorite holiday.
Bill Maher ERUPTS on Francesca Hong’s claim that she never wanted to cancel Thanksgiving.
“I DON’T BELIEVE YOU! … You meant it… she hates all holidays.”
Then he dropped the receipts:
“Democrats have found a candidate who hates Thanksgiving and wants to get rid of it. Yes.… pic.twitter.com/4z4CQ0mpHS

That’s a rich comic vein, one the late-night clowns ignored.
Not Maher.
He’s also been savaging the Democrats’ turn to DSA-style governance. No President. No Senate. No borders. No Capitalism.
Sorry, Maher keeps saying. He’s not down with that.
A left-leaning host willing to mock Democrats is newsworthy. The same host telling a few weight jokes about a pop princess? Not even close.
But it was. The “why” tells the whole story.
