Jimmy Kimmel to Face Ultimate Free Speech Test in U.K.

Far-left host tapped to address Great Britain, but will he finally speak truth to power?

Jimmy Kimmel has failed one free speech test after another.

And, to be fair, he isn’t alone in La La Land.

Most Hollywood dwellers stood down rather than call out the serial speech attacks over the past decade. Consider:

And so much more.

For every Rob Schneider, Bill Maher or John Cleese, there are hundreds of artists who stood down when it mattered most.

And, sadly, Kimmel’s nightly monologues missed all of the above. Night after night. Week after week. Year after year.

Why, it might just be on purpose.

Now, suddenly, Kimmel is seen as a free speech warrior after he was briefly suspended for misleading viewers about Charlie Kirk’s murder. Kimmel insinuated a MAGA Nation member pulled the trigger, instead of the far-Left man who allegedly silenced Kirk.

(Kimmel never apologized but swiftly went back to work)

Legacy Media outlets and the Left, but we repeat ourselves, insisted without evidence that President Donald Trump silenced Kimmel. That made no sense since Kimmel came back on-air mere days later, and a new report shows why Kimmel got benched in the first place.

Legacy Media outlets are still lying about it. Here’s The Hollywood Reporter:

Trump tried to cancel Jimmy Kimmel. Instead, the president’s efforts made the ABC host a First Amendment hero after his brief suspension, and Kimmel secured a contract renewal (hey, one year is better than none).

Now, Britain’s Channel 4 has tapped Kimmel to give an “alternative” Christmas address.

Kimmel teased the comments will address “fascism,” and it’s clear it’ll be an extension of his nightly rants against President Trump.

Channel 4 elaborated on the speech to air on Christmas Day.

“Donald Trump’s return to the White House and wide-ranging impact on the world has been the story of 2025, and it would be hard to think of a better person to address it than Jimmy Kimmel, who has found himself on the frontline of America’s battle over free speech,” the spokesperson said.

If you’re afraid of fascism, look no further than Mother England. Here is the indispensable City Journal detailing the horrors coming out of the U.K. in recent years.

According to police records analyzed by the London Times, over 12,000 Britons per year are arrested for speech-related offenses—an average of 30 per day and nearly a fourfold increase over the 2016 figure. Recent cases have reportedly included arrests for derogatory comments about migrants, displays of the national flag that others found offensive, and even silent prayer near abortion clinics. Since 2014, police can record comments merely perceived as offensive as so-called “non-crime hate incidents,” which remain on the offending party’s record even if no charges are filed.

JD Vance: Demise of free speech in Britain is bigger threat than Russia

Scary. Chilling. Ominous. And, some rightly fear, it could happen here before too long. Heck, it almost did.

If Kimmel is set to discuss “fascism” and fails to mention this sorry state of affairs, his free speech hypocrisy may be viewable from outer space.

Does anyone think he will?

The speech hasn’t been aired yet, so let’s hope Kimmel rises to the occasion. It could be the kind of moment that wakes up a sleeping populace and sends a shiver down the UK government’s spine.

If a Trump Derangement sufferer addressed what’s happening to speech internationally, it could be a cultural moment we’ll look back on decades later.

Sadly, there’s little in Kimmel’s recent resume suggesting he’ll target Europe’s free speech crisis. (It’s not just England, remember?)

After all, the wild and crazy “Man Show” left the air 20-odd years ago.

Editor’s Note: It’s a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but it’s never been more necessary given the sorry state of the corporate press. If you’re enjoying Hollywood in Toto, I hope you’ll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our Tip Jar.
