Hollywood Reporter, Spike Lee: Trump Is Silencing His Critics!

The Biden administration’s war on free speech remains an unwritten story in the Legacy Press.

Now, some of the same media outlets insist President Donald Trump is trying to “silence” his critics. How? Who? 

Let’s not sweat the details, in part because they don’t exist. Insisting Harvard University stop actively discriminating against Jewish students doesn’t count.

At all.

Instead, let’s push out that fear-mongering message to the masses. Enter The Hollywood Reporter.

The far-Left outlet interviewed director Spike Lee about his upcoming reunion with Denzel Washington (“Highest 2 Lowest”) and assorted topics. And, of course, the journalist quizzed Lee on President Trump.

THR: Donald Trump is making efforts to silence people who are critical of him. As someone who has been an antagonist of Trump’s since the ’80s, do you worry about your ability to continue to exercise your free speech?

LEE: Have you seen what De Niro said about him? I’m a child of the ’70s, and I think the history of this country is artists. The Vietnam War, the songs, the movies. Black, white, brown people stood up against a war that was wrong. Jackson State. Kent State. The Democratic Convention, Chicago and those cops going crazy cracking heads. And they were saying, “The whole world is watching.” But it is a shock. We haven’t seen this exactly. I mean before, I mean not even Nixon did the stuff this guy is doing.

I’m a teacher, an NYU tenured professor; I’ve got a lot of students. Before spring break, the [school] administration sent an email, “Don’t go away for spring break.” It’s scary. I mean, if you are an international student, clean record, and you see what’s happening in the world. This is the year of living dangerously.

No facts. No proof. No examples. Just fear. 

President Trump just invited one of his loudest critics to break bread with him at the White House. Said critic went on to keep criticizing Trump … as it should be.

Could President Trump go too far? Of course. His predecessor did and Legacy Media outlets and stars like Lee stood down.

Silence. Nothing.

We’ve had about a decade of stars, journalists and everyone in between saying the harshest things possible about Trump. Have any of said voices been erased/arrested/punished? Is Jimmy Kimmel staring at the walls of a rat-infested gulag?

We all know the answer is “no.” Does Lee, or THR for that matter, sound legitimately afraid of speaking ill of President Trump?

Of course not.

Yet stars like Lee stood down as Cancel Culture ran roughshod over America. He stayed quiet as “sensitivity readers” erased phrases by the likes of Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl. He couldn’t rise to author Jeanine Cummins’ defense as the woke mob assailed her for being the “wrong” nationality.

Now, Lee is sounding the alarm about free speech.
