Gene Wilder has passed. His comedy canon shows little sign of aging.
I had the chance to discuss Wilder’s career, what made him unique in Hollywood and why his finest work may be in a kiddie film we can’t stop watching on WMAL’s “Mornings on the Mall” program today.
The D.C. station’s morning show, hosted by Larry O’Connor and Brian Wilson, played a gaggle of classic Wilder sound bites between the reminiscing.
I also compared Wilder’s role in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” to Johnny Depp’s take on the famed chocolatier at PJ Media.
Suffice to say it’s no contest.
