Denver Critics Hail ‘Marriage Story,’ ‘Jojo Rabbit,’ ‘Little Women’

The splintered Best Picture field got even muddier this week.

The Denver Film Critics Society celebrated a gaggle of 2019 releases today, spreading nominations around from a black comedy about Hitler to the tale of a marriage in its death throes.

“Little Women,” “Jojo Rabbit” and “Marriage Story” all scored six nominations each from the Colorado-based group.

Those films, along with “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” and the World War I drama “1917” will vie for the group’s Best Picture honors. Other films with multiple nominations include “Hollywood” (5), “The Farewell” (5) and “Parasite” (3).

Among the group’s surprises? The box office dud “Booksmart” snared a nomination for Best Comedy and John Lithgow gave “Bombshell” its sole nod for Best Supporting Actor.
