Adam Carolla Reveals More Proof of Hollywood Blacklist 2.0
Podcaster's personal anecdotes match larger, disturbing Hollywood discrimination

Adam Carolla isn’t a conservative, per se.
He’s pro choice, pro legal marijuana and you won’t catch him sporting a red MAGA hat.
He’s just not a doctrinaire progressive, and he knows hypocrisy when he sees it. That means he’s watched artists and crew members speak out on the latest political issues, both on camera and behind the scenes.
More importantly, he’s noticed who doesn’t say a syllable. Some opinions aren’t welcome in Hollywood. Share them at your own professional peril.
He previously revealed Hollywood’s entrenched bigotry against right-leaning artists with Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld. The two swapped stories of stars who refused to appear on “Gutfeld!” despite the show’s strong ratings.
Now, Carolla is addressing another part of Hollywood bigotry.
The comedian and podcaster opened up to “The Heretics” podcast host Andrew Gold about what happens behind the scenes in Hollywood.
Remember, Carolla has worked extensively in the industry for decades. He’s collaborated with old pal Jimmy Kimmel on the latter’s eponymous show and helped punch up jokes for Kimmel’s Oscar hosting duties.
Carolla has made independent features like “Road Hard,” “The Hammer” and “Uppity.” He’s also starred in multiple TV shows – “Dancing with the Stars,” “Too Late with Adam Carolla” and “The Man Show.”
He’s survived in the industry despite having views that don’t match the “approved” doctrines. That’s partly due to his unwillingness to apologize and by controlling his own destiny. He’s in charge of his modest podcast empire, and he tours the country as a stand-up comic.
No boss. Just jokes.
That freedom has allowed him to skewer pandemic protocols, blast DEI policies and crave more police, not less.
He’s a survivor. He’s also an exception. Many right-leanings stars keep their views quiet, understanding the punishment that could await them.
Carolla shared more about that thinking with Gold.
“In Hollywood, it’s an important business decision to go liberal,” Carolla said. “Because you will be blackballed and unhireable [otherwise].”
He describes the industry as a place where almost everyone is replaceable. Writers. Directors. Actors. Especially actors.
“It’s a job a lot of people can do,” he notes. “And everybody kind of knows it, but they don’t say it out loud.”
Enter political virtue signaling.

He says your average writer’s room on a sitcom or late-night show has about 15 writers. That includes five talented people and the rest. The “rest” includes people who claim to have the “right” politics, the kind that makes them in step with their peers.
“If you walk in with a MAGA hat, you’re not making it back into that room. They know that,” he said. That helps explain why so many creative types embrace the Left’s latest talking points.
“Do you want to get on the wrong side of the people that are making the decisions about who’s coming to that writers’ room by telling them you voted for Trump?” he asked. “You definitely don’t want to do that.”
He says the industry is comprised of genuine progressives and others who are signaling that they agree with that worldview, even if they may not fully (or partially) think that way.
The rest?
“People come up [to me] on the set and say, ‘Hey, I agree with you, but don’t out me,'” he said, adding it’s often crew members who whisper that to him.
It isn’t isolated to camera workers, though. Just ask Danny Trejo, who suffered sizable backlash for co-starring in a pro-ICE film for The Daily Wire.

Carolla’s commentary is more proof of the bigotry lurking in plain sight in La La land.
