Sarah Silverman Is Super Sorry for Telling a Mean Joke … 14 Years Ago

Following Sarah Silverman’s woke journey could leave you woozy.

The far-left comic started her career as a take-no-prisoners stand-up. That attitude, combined with her, “oops, did I really say that?” pose helped make her a star.

She was rude, raw and frequently hilarious.

Then Silverman decided to embrace the woke groupthink rumbling across the comedy landscape. She said we must follow the young generation’s rules. They know what’s best for a comedian to say.

“I think it’s a sign of being old if you’re put off by that … you have to listen to the college-aged because they lead the revolution.”

That was the 2015 Silverman model.

She stayed in that mode for a spell, not flinching as the comedy world grew smaller, less expressive. It took a personal bout with Cancel Culture to wake her up. She shared how a small but sweet movie role slipped through her fingers when the team behind the film saw her blackface segment on Comedy Central.

Was Silverman attacking black people? Not in the least. She used the makeup to illustrate a point about racism. Sorry. Cancel Culture doesn’t do nuance, and so Silverman sounded the alarm about the unforgiving woke mob.

“I think it’s really scary and it’s a very odd thing that it’s invaded the left primarily and the right will mimic it,” adding that she calls it “righteousness porn.”

“It’s like, if you’re not on board, if you say the wrong thing, if you had a tweet once, everyone is, like, throwing the first stone,” she continued. “It’s so odd. It’s a perversion. It’s really, ‘Look how righteous I am and now I’m going to press refresh all day long to see how many likes I get in my righteousness.’”

A year later, she expanded on Cancel Culture on her own podcast.

“…without a path to redemption, when you take someone, you found a tweet they wrote seven years ago or a thing that they said and you expose it and you say, ‘This person should be no more. Banish them forever.’ They’re going to find some place where they are accepted.”

Meanwhile, the press keeps rebranding Silverman as a kind and gentle truth teller. Look, her short-lived Hulu show “I Love You America” allowed her to break bread with heartland types, they cried in near unison. A recent Detroit News profile ran with the fluffy headline, “Sarah Silverman Just Wants to Make Things Right.”

Meanwhile, Silverman remains as mean as a snake on social media toward anyone who doesn’t vote the way she votes.

Most recently, Silverman attempted to apologize for a joke she told 14 years ago. She was hosting the MTV Movie Awards at the time when she took a nasty swipe at reality show starlet Paris Hilton.

“So, here I am, 14 years later, telling you, Paris, that I am really sorry,” Silverman said, according to Us Weekly. “I was then and I am, much more completely and with far more understanding, I think, now.”

Here’s the joke in question, told as Hilton neared a short prison stint for driving with a suspended license while on probation:

“I heard that to make her feel comfortable in prison, the guards are going to paint the bars to look like penises. I just worry that she’s gonna break her teeth on those things.”

Is that the only joke she’ll apologize for? Could there be others, like hundreds of others. aimed at high-profile people? Or does she only apologize to the rich and famous?

What an elitist!

The clip posted above finds Silverman using the word, “gay” as a pejorative? Where’s the apology? Why, she’ll never host the Oscars, that’s for sure.

Better yet … why is she apologizing for jokes in the first place? Was that the first joke ever aimed at Hilton, a millionaire who lives and breathes her larger-than-life persona?

Will Silverman apologize for this?

You could lose a pretty sweet gig with that kind of analogy.

Could we comb through her previous comedy specials and point out when she was unfair/cruel/cutting to other public figures? Indeed, but that’s something to be said about hundreds of other comedians.

Silverman must be baffled by the woke world around her. Her progressive heart wants to wrap her arms around it, but she’s seen its dark side up close.

Chances are her views on Cancel Culture and the apology dictates comedians live under, will change again (and again).
