HiT Episode No. 53 – Dallas Jenkins (‘The Chosen’)

We’ve seen our fair share of films chronicling the life of Jesus Christ.

“The Last Temptation of Christ.” “The Passion of the Christ.” “The Greatest Story Ever Told.”

Dallas Jenkins thinks it’s time for a different content approach to His Lord and Savior. And it comes at a time when episodic TV is reaching new heights of creative excellence.

“The Chosen,” to be shown via VidAngel, documents the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of the sinners who knew him. Jenkins directed the show’s pilot and posted it for free at VidAngel. Now, he’s looking for like-minded souls to help bring “The Chosen” to fruition.

So far, that effort has yielded more than $5 million in pledges, or investments, in the project. This isn’t another crowdfunding campaign. Those who choose to contribute to “The Chosen” will become investors who can benefit from the show’s potential success.

Jenkins shares his inspiration for the series, his thoughts on why movies like “Noah” failed and the moment that changed his career forever on the HiT ‘cast.
