Jimmy Kimmel Pretends to Care About Free Speech
Late-night cryer decries Colbert cancellation, quiet on other speech-related matters

Jimmy Kimmel flexed his free speech rights on Comedy Central’s “The Man Show.”
Did he ever.
The series let Kimmel and co-star Adam Carolla crack wise from a decidedly male point of view. One infamous sketch? The show set up a faux stand asking passers-by to decry women’s suffrage.
Some didn’t realize the phrase meant a woman’s right to vote. Kimmel also repeatedly donned “blackface” to mimic Oprah Winfrey and Karl Malone.
We get a night full of Jimmy Kimmel lecturing conservatives.

Now, Kimmel walks in lockstep with the Left. That means he’s ignored serial attacks on free speech over the past decade.
Sometimes, the people being silenced were conservatives. In other cases, he looked the other way as his fellow Leftists canceled artists for “problematic” material, censored classic books or bullied creators into memory-holing their material.
He didn’t care that fellow comics found their removed from social media, or that the Biden administration teamed with Big Tech platforms to crush dissent.
And let’s not forget The Twitter Files.
He either didn’t know or didn’t care about all of the above. That’s unforgivable, especially for someone in his position. Oh, and we shouldn’t dismiss his silence during the Cancel Culture era.

But now … now he’s concerned about free speech.
Why?
Fellow late-night Leftist Stephen Colbert lost his gig after costing his parent company a literal fortune. Kimmel dismissed reports that “The Late Show” was setting CBS back $40 million a year, even though no one has credibly disputed the claim.
No, Kimmel knows the real reason Colbert got canned, ignoring the fact that CBS is canceling “The Late Show” in toto, not just its host, starting May 2026.
It’s all President Donald Trump’s fault. Of course. Note: It’s unclear if Kimmel wept during some or all of the interview.
I think we were all shocked and disappointed that this kind of thing is happening in America, and also disappointed that we don’t see more people on the right stepping up and saying, “Hey, this is no good.” Silencing comedians, commentators, whatever you want to call people… I have to say, if Joe Biden had used his muscle to get Sean Hannity kicked off the air, you may be surprised to learn that I would not support that. I would, in fact, support Sean Hannity in that situation, because I thought one of the founding principles of this country was free speech. But people don’t seem to care about protecting it unless you agree with them.
(People like Jimmy Kimmel…)
Try as they might, no media outlet has successfully tied “The Late Show’s” cancellation to President Trump. It’s all speculation by media outlets desperate to connect those dots.
They failed. And that means Kimmel is spreading Fake News. Again.
RELATED: WHY HASN’T KIMMEL BEEN CANCELED YET?
To be fair, Kimmel has plenty of company on free speech hypocrisy.
Sites like Variety stood down as free speech suffered body blow upon body blow, including the resilience of the Hollywood Blacklist 2.0. That holds for other entertainment media outlets.
Said outlets have said little about Jewish entertainers (Brett Gelman, Michael Rapaport, Matisyahu) getting canceled by pro-Palestinian bullies for being pro-Israel or simply Jewish.
Kimmel ignores their plight as well, despite having a broadcast platform on a major TV network.
Why? He can’t tie the free speech attacks to President Trump. That’s why.
Some free speech hero.
Editor’s Note: It’s a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but it’s never been more necessary given the sorry state of the corporate press. If you’re enjoying Hollywood in Toto, I hope you’ll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our Tip Jar.
