Dave Smith, Theo Von Fawn Over ‘Brave’ Nick Fuentes
Podcasters praise 'brave' White Supremicist, admit some 'differences' exist

Remember 2024? It wasn’t so long ago, but it feels like an eternity.
The year elevated a crush of podcasting giants into the political stratosphere. They even dubbed the Presidential brawl between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris the “podcast election.”
Think:
- Joe Rogan
- Theo Von
- Andrew Schulz
- Megyn Kelly
- Call Her Daddy (Alex Cooper)
- Tim Dillon
Some, like Schulz, haven’t leaned harder into the political scene since that time. Rogan remains a curiosity, pinging from Left to Right when politics enter the conversation.
Other prominent podcasters, like Von and comedian Dave Smith, are another matter. Von’s anti-Jewish inclinations are becoming obvious. He’s labeled the media as both “left-leaning” (fact check: true) and mostly Jewish (huh and, even if so, who cares?).’
That wasn’t the end of it, though.

Von recently hosted the suddenly anti-semitic talker Tucker Carlson on his show and has labeled Israel’s retaliatory strikes against Gaza as a genocide, an easily disputed claim.
The rebel comic sank to a new low, courtesy of his “This Past Weekend” podcast.
Unabashed hater Nick Fuentes’ name came up during their discussion. What followed was depressing and vile, as the two comics took turns praising Fuentes and suggesting they had mere “disagreements” with him.
Smith brought up Carlson, who was mysteriously fired from Fox News in 2023 but has since grown his audience as an independent media figure. Smith noted that the high-profile dismissal didn’t silence Carlson’s voice.
It’s only grown louder since then. True. And something similar is happening to Fuentes, he noted with glee.
“He’s bigger than ever,” Smith said of a pundit who advocates beating up women, thinks Adolf Hitler was “cool,” says Jews run America, promotes being racist against black people and so much more (and worse).
Here’s a clip I edited showing some examples of Nick Fuentes being what Megyn would probably describe as “very interesting and very smart.” https://t.co/BefcYEBWrf pic.twitter.com/oWQvyrQenq

Nick Fuentes: “Women are coy. They want me to rape them. They want me to beat the shit out of them.”
If you had spoke out about trans women in sports but go silent on Fuentes because you fear his followers, you’re a coward — and morally bankrupt.

And, yes, it may all be an act, but it’s the ugliest act possible, one we’re told to accept at face value.
Shockingly, Megyn Kelly has defended Fuentes, saying, “He’s absorbing, and he’s brilliant. And on a lot of things, there is value to be derived from that guy’s messaging.”
Von and Smith appear to be on Team Fuentes, too.
Smith has had Fuentes on his podcast, leading Von to ask him what Fuentes is like in person. It’s as if he were a celebrity or someone worth getting to know better.
“I like Nick,” Smith said.
“He seems like a fascinating cat,” Von quickly replied. “People are fascinated by him.”
The love-fest continued.
“He’s brilliant. He’s hilarious … I just like that. I like funny people,” Smith said.
“He’s f***ing brave, dude,” Von said.
“He’s definitely brave, and we have some pretty large areas of disagreement, I think, but I’ve always believed, OK … hey, let’s talk about them. Let’s have more debates and more conversations,” Smith said.
So, Mr. Fuentes, you hate a variety of races and deny the Holocaust. What would you say if I suggested that was hateful, dumb and illogical?
Just imagine the debates to be had.
To be clear, Fuentes should be allowed to share his bile on social media platforms and elsewhere. The rush to silence conspiracy monger Alex Jones just a few short years ago led to a large, censorial wave that eventually got a presidential push, courtesy of one-term leader Joe Biden.
What shouldn’t happen is seemingly sane, rational people propping up a hate-monger. That’s precisely what comedians Smith and Von just did.
Let’s hope they have less than zero impact on the 2028 presidential race.
