Don’t Fall for Left’s Last-Minute Assault on ‘Woke 1’
Progressive Hollywood's motives aren't pure, and their actions prove it
Chuck Lorre used a nonprofit gala for yet another anti-Trump screed.
The prolific comedy producer (“Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory”) raged against not just President Donald Trump but First Lady Melania Trump and Robert F. Kennedy while accepting an award from a group that feeds the less fortunate.
Talk about not reading the room.
Then again, one part of the speech did catch many off guard. Lorre blasted the “far-Left woke culture,” echoing a sentiment shared by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
“Woke 1 was crazy,” she said just a few short weeks ago. Lorre couched the subject in purely political terms.
“I’d like to beg the [Democratic National Committee] to run from the suicidal insanity of the far-left woke culture in the coming election, [and] urge them to seek the common sense middle ground that emanates from the hard-working, blue-collar heart and soul of America. You bet I would. But once again, it’s not funny.”
Little that he said was actually funny. Angry, inaccurate and sad, yes. But not funny.
The bigger point must be shared. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez didn’t mean what she said about Woke 1. She didn’t mention any specifics, nor did she explain why she and her peers embraced all things woke but later changed their minds.
No specific apologies. No sense that she’ll avoid the woke mind virus moving forward.
Lorre doesn’t really mean it, either.
If he did, he’d be using woke-based material across his TV platforms. It’s not for a lack of opportunities.

Lorre’s very recent shows include “Bookie,” “Young Sheldon,” “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” and “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.” He’s the modern king of TV comedy, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Have any of those shows tackled the “far-Left woke culture” in any capacity? If they had, the news would likely spread across social media. When TV fare like “Landman” gently tweaks woke norms, the content spreads across the Internet and social media.
And rightly so, given how rare an occurrence that is.
Few Hollywood dwellers have the power to incorporate specific themes into their work. Lorre has the power, the platforms and the budget to do just that.
And he didn’t lift a finger to shred woke overreach.
So if Lorre actually meant what he said, he’d be the perfect person to take action on his fears. Just like Rep. Ocasio-Cortez will dive headfirst into Woke 2.0, whatever horror that might entail, before taking aim at woke groupthink.
Which brings us to the most viral story in a very long time.

The Boston Globe covered a lesbian bar that insists all patrons wear professional-style masks to ward off COVID-19.
The story isn’t a flashback piece. It’s set in 2026, mind you. The article is almost beyond parody in mocking woke culture.
The title? “A Western Mass. lesbian bar required KN-95 masks. When it changed the rules, all hell broke loose.”
The great Bridget Phetasy broke it down better than almost anyone else could.
Now, Hollywood is sniffing around the article for a possible film treatment.
… insiders tell THR that UTA, which represents the Globe, has been fielding inquiries about potential adaptations for the article — both in the scripted space and the documentary sphere….
Articles are optioned all the time, of course, but only a select few make it to the screen, such as this weekend’s Robert Pattinson movie Primetime, which was based on a 2007 Esquire article.
To quote the great sage Flo from “Alice,” “when donkeys fly.” Democrats have no interest in dropping their woke embrace. None. No apologies for it, either.
Nor will a Hollywood studio recreate this disturbing story despite its darkly comic potential. It’s all an act.
Progressives understand woke doesn’t play well with the general electorate, so they’ve been pretending to be horrified by its overreach.
They’re not. Democrats still do the “birthing person” nonsense, start meetings with “land acknowledgments” and embrace DEI principles far and wide.
They’re just pretending to be outraged to woo independents to vote for them. The same, sadly, goes for Lorre and his Hollywood peers.
