Can Disney Hire Patton Oswalt for ‘Ratatouille 2?’

Far-left comic cheers on death threats against key Trump figure

Gina Carano’s fight with Disney isn’t going away. Nor should it.

The Mouse House canned Carano in 2021 after she posted a plea for tolerance by comparing today’s political climate to the early days of Nazi Germany. Critics interpreted her post as antisemitic.

So did Disney brass.

Carano was no longer part of the company’s celebrated “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian.”

The disagreement is currently working its way through the courts, but the heart of the story remains relevant.

Can a studio fire an actor for “inappropriate” social media posts? And what if other employees share more incendiary messages without punishment?

A prime example?

Why would Disney dismiss Carano while ignoring “Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal’s message comparing Trump voters to Nazis? Pascal never faced blowback for the post in question, either from Disney or Hollywood at large.

He remains one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors.

Now, we have a fresh example of a star saying something offensive and, much worse, potentially inflammatory. Far-left comedian Patton Oswalt is no friend to President Donald Trump or his voters.

The star has been savaging both for some time. That’s hardly a “man bites dog” story.

This week, Oswalt took his rhetoric up a notch. Border czar Tom Homan is the point man for the administration’s illegal immigration enforcement. He revealed his strained living arrangements to New York Post columnist and “Pod Force One” host Miranda Devine.

“My wife’s living separately from me right now, mainly because I worked for many hours, but mostly because of the death threats against me,” the top Trump aide said. “She’s someplace else. I see her as much as I can, but the death threats against me and my family are outrageous.”

Oswalt apparently heard about the death threats and shared his reaction on Bluesky.

“good. i hope it gets so much worse for this rancid pile of polenta.”

Given the Left’s violent reaction to Trump’s immigration policies, that statement lands differently than the usual jab. We’ve seen riots break out in Los Angeles earlier this month over ICE agents arresting illegal immigrants.

Cars set ablaze. Cops targeted with bricks. It was ugly.

Oswalt’s comments could be seen as incitement to violence. It’s clearly far worse than what Carano shared back in 2021.

Here’s where things get complicated.

Pixar may be planning a sequel to its 2007 smash “Ratatouille.” That film starred Oswalt as the voice of Remy, a cultured rat who finds a home in a Parisian restaurant. Critics and crowds adored the film. It earned more than $600 million worldwide and is considered one of Pixar’s finest achievements.

A Hollywood insider says a sequel is in the early stages, although Pixar has yet to confirm the news. That makes sense on several levels. Pixar sequels score big at the box office, unlike some of the company’s original films. The recent “Elio” opened to the weakest box office results of any Pixar film to date.

Will Disney, which now owns Pixar, bring Oswalt back to be Remy’s voice once more? Can the company look past his incendiary social media posts?

Will doing so give Carano’s legal team more ammunition in its legal case?

One thing is clear. Oswalt’s comments won’t cause him any professional grief across Hollywood. He might even get more gigs as a result. Conservatives are targeted within the industry while progressives can do or say almost anything and show up to the set the next day.
