NOT REMOTELY WOKE: Taylor Sheridan Strikes Again

Taylor Sheridan is the biggest name on the small screen.

The actor-turned-TV producer is behind some of the most popular shows of the modern era.

• “Landman”
• “Tulsa King”
• “Lioness”

• “The Madison”

Sheridan’s secret? The creative process remains a mystery on many levels, but Sheridan does have an ace up his sleeve. He listens to the half of the country that Hollywood too often ignores.

That’s why “Landman” featured a scene dressing down a progressive character about the messy but necessary case for oil and gas. What other show would take that nuanced approach?

A Sheridan show would, no doubt.

“Landman” also poked fun at uber-woke college students while granting them their humanity.

In recent days, Sheridan’s “Lioness” uncorked not one but two sequences that speak to the Heartland, not deep within the bowels of Los Angeles.

The most recent example? 

Morgan Freeman’s character, Secretary of State Edwin Mullins, shares a sober assessment of Legacy Media in the 21st century. To most Hollywood scribes, journalists are firefighters rushing into a blaze of truth-seeking headlines.

In the real world, they push Fake News with glee and ignore massive stories that don’t fit their liberal agenda. Reporters also bring more opinion to the table than ever before, shaping narratives in the process.

Aggressively so. And Secretary Mullins said as much.

I don’t know who writes the Lioness dialogue but this Morgan Freeman critique of major media outlets in season 2 strikes me as serenely insightful:

Earlier on the same show, star Zoe Saldaña shredded socialists who don’t practice what they preach. Platforms like The New York Post routinely report on similar real-life stories.

Those news accounts rarely get traction in the Legacy Media. That means most Americans never hear about them.

They do if they watch “Lioness.”

Keen-eyed X.com user Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) shared once more how different Sheridan and his colleagues see the country. While mainstream entertainers like Jon Stewart are tap-dancing around a major political party’s shift to the far-Left, “Lioness” is speaking clearly about the threat Communism poses to the country.

Here’s Saldaña’s character, Joe McNamara, breaking it down.

It’s a glaring hypocrisy that broadcast TV shows ignore, along with late-night TV propagandists. Sheridan’s shows refuse to follow suit.

It’s one small reason for his TV dominance. And, since the competition won’t catch up with Team Sheridan, his shows will keep offering viewers something they can’t find elsewhere.
