‘Simpsons’ Standout Goes Full Trump Derangement Syndrome
Harry Shearer's new song, 'I Never Knew Him,' lands with embarrassing thud

Few comic artists are as underrated as Harry Shearer.
The 82-year-old actor was part of 1984’s “This Is Spinal Tap” mockumentary, more than enough to solidify his icon status.
Over the years, he’s built on that work, from a standout season on “Saturday Night Live” to a plethora of killer voice roles on “The Simpsons.”
He also appeared in many feature films (“A Mighty Wind,” “Waiting for Huffman,” “The Truman Show”), wrote for the comedy classic “Fernwood 2 Night” and has hosted “Le Show. for decades.
The latter radio show lets him share a satirical take on news and culture from the Left.
It’s a vibrant resume, and he shows little sign of retirement – even if he should have nixed last year’s disastrous “Spinal Tap” sequel, “The End Continues.”
Now, he’s got a Trump parody song to build on his progressive bona fides. And it makes “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” look like “The Godfather, Part II.”
“Truth Anti-Social Presents: “I Never Knew Him.”
The clip, created with motion-capture animation, finds President Donald Trump talking to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu among other figures.
The song, and describing it that way, is generous, has Trump recalling some of the people in his orbit like Elon Musk and Jeffrey Epstein.
The punch line? I never knew him, his patented excuse, we’re told. But he did. He famously had a falling out with Musk, although they’ve since repaired part of that damage.
Editor’s Note: It’s a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but it’s never been more necessary given the sorry state of the corporate press. If you’re enjoying Hollywood in Toto, I hope you’ll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our Tip Jar.
As for Epstein, Trump reportedly banned him from Mar-a-Lago after learning he was hitting on young women from the club. Later, we read that Trump cheered news that the authorities would pursue Epstein, a story that got scant media attention.
And we all know why.
On paper, the song could have built up to the Epstein connection, as flimsy as it is. The progressive Left is obsessed with alleged Trump/Epstein ties, although nothing dastardly has ever been revealed to this point.
The Biden administration had access to the so-called Epstein Files for four years. It never found anything it could release to incriminate the former and future president.
The Epstein mentions come mid-song, and there’s no real punch line or funny bit involved. Much like the rest of the song.
The image of Trump dancing in his chair is amusing, and the animation offers a mildly funny visual to accompany whatever gags are embedded in the song.
Good luck finding any.
The final person Trump “never knew” is Melania Trump, his wife. What does this even mean?

TDS, or Trump Derangement Syndrome, finds celebrities citing the most bizarre conspiracy theories and Fake News headlines to smite the 47th president.
That’s ironic, since President Trump has plenty of flaws to mock without inventing some out of thin air. Like any president, he has successes and failures on his watch. Have you seen the gas prices lately?
Why not mock them?
Instead, it’s hard to figure out what Shearer is thinking, although one thing is clear. The song isn’t drawing a crowd. The clip has just 920 views in two weeks.
