Film Critic Torches ‘Melania,’ Admits He Didn’t See It

Reviewers savage doc while box office explodes for record numbers

You didn’t need a crystal ball to predict film critics would skewer “Melania.”

Reviewers lean aggressively to the Left, and they often let their ideological biases get the best of them.

Plus, as if it needed more forces against it, the documentary was directed by Brett Ratner. The disgraced filmmaker got dumped by Hollywood during the MeToo revolution. Several women accused Ratner of sexual misconduct, although he was never formally charged with a crime.

It still comes as a surprise that one Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic gave “Melania” a scathing review without actually seeing the documentary.

He said so himself.

Full disclosure: I will never watch Melania. [emphasis added] And my sole comment on it is that pondering fellow NYU alum and perennial no-talent Brett Ratner’s reinvention as idjit Leni Riefenstahl gets me all a-titter, with heartier guffaws if I imagine him on-set looking like semi-doppelgänger Jonah Hill in the “Married Your Cousin” scene from The Wolf of Wall Street. May Rush Hour 4 be your history-written-with-lightning moment you scum-sucking bottom feeder.

That didn’t stop him from sharing a “rotten” score at Rotten Tomatoes.Melania review didn't watch movie

Other critics were just as cruel. The Guardian review personally mocked the First Lady, describing her as having “a face like a fist and a voice like sheet metal.”

Had a reviewer mocked an actress’ appearance like that it would spark outrage among Feminist Nation. One critic got in trouble six years ago for alleging that star Carey Mulligan wasn’t attractive enough to play the lead in “Promising Young Woman.”

The outlet subsequently apologized. Expect nothing of the kind since the target here is a Republican woman.

Other critics played the Nazi Card™ against the film. General audiences, by contrast, are raving about the movie.

The media has been gleefully reporting “Melania’s” allegedly weak box office fate, but the far-Left Deadline reports the movie could make as much as $8 million in its opening frame on less than 2,000 screens.

That’s more than any other documentary’s debut in a decade, including “Am I Racist?”

Note: As of Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. ET, the aforementioned critic has either removed the “Melania” score at Rotten Tomatoes or the site’s administrators took it down. This reporter took a screen shot of the review yesterday.

UPDATE: For the past 24 hours, Rotten Tomatoes has refused to add “Melania” to its featured carousel of movies opening this weekend.
