Is Russell Brand Getting Red Pilled in Real Time?

Russell Brand 2.0 is breaking all the molds.

The comic-turned-actor (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) once embraced Hollywood’s progressive ideals without question. Think socialism lite, or sometimes not-so-lite.

Now? You never know what Brand might do or say. Are we witnessing a Red Pill transformation in progress?

The evidence suggests just that.

The former Russell Brand sounded more like England’s answer to Sen. Bernie Sanders. He marched in anti capitalist protests and called for “a socialist egalitarian system based on the massive redistribution of wealth, heavy taxation of corporations and massive responsibility for energy companies and any companies exploiting the environment.”

He also blamed the West for the rise of ISIS and compared Fox News hosts to members of that barbaric group.

His political worldview often clashed with his personal life. Case in point? He enjoyed the fruits of his labor, and threw a magnificent wedding in India for former love Katy Perry, while extolling the need to spread the wealth.

That was then – and not too long ago, to be fair. The “new” Brand clashes with Hollywood groupthink on the media, conservatives and more.

We got a hint of Brand’s transformation late last year when he invited Matthew McConaughey on his podcast. The two spoke about clumsily dismissing Trump voters while praising “Resistance” members who decried the 2016 election’s integrity.

“[There is] a kind of offhandedness, like, ‘Oh, they’re dumb, they’re voting for Brexit, they’re voting for Trump.’ I don’t like it, and I don’t like to hear it,” Brand said.

The same year he questioned the wisdom of “W.A.P.,” the sexually-charged anthem from Cardi B with Megan Thee Stallion. Brand dubbed the song’s music video “porn” and wondered if it offered true political progress for women.

Naturally, the woke brigade accused him of “mansplaining.” He was just warming up, though.

Earlier this year, Brand accused Big Tech of colluding with Democrats to impact the 2020 presidential election, as Adam Carolla did.

“Did the media and social media conspire together to keep information about Joe Biden and Hunter Biden’s relationship with foreign energy companies out of the media? … The answer is: yes, they did.” 

Brand has also sat down with conservative superstars like Candace Owens and Ben Shapiro in recent months, a willingness to reach across the aisle that some of his progressive peers lack. It also says Brand doesn’t fear the far-Left mob, which loathes anyone who connects with conservatives in a meaningful way.

Remember how actor/producer Mark Duplass shared a nice Tweet about Shapiro and later reversed course following the massive social media blowback?

He’s also aghast at how Big Tech won’t allow an unfettered debate about COVID-19 to flower online.

“Our main concern is that there’s a mighty lobby behind many of these Covid measures, including treatment, lack of treatment, and vaccines, obviously, but there isn’t much of a lobby in the other direction. And I think most of us feel that our employers of various sorts have not been representing both sides.”

“I’ve always believed we should be allowed to talk about things and express a variety of opinions. Nobody can claim, from a religious, political or any ideological perspective to have sole exclusive access to truth.”

Agree? Disagree? Just know people who suggested the virus began at the Wuhan Lab were ridiculed and often banned from various platforms.

Now, we know that’s a realistic possibility that deserves a full inspection. What other banned arguments could be dubbed accurate next? (Never forget how the media and Big Tech teamed up to dismiss the Hunter Biden laptop story without any evidence it was false.)

He’s even weighing in on the Russia collusion hoax, putting him at odds with 90+ percent of Celebrity Nation.

Where does all this leave Brand? Is he gunning for his own Fox News time slot? Might we see him alongside Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis anytime soon?

Unlikely.

He may not have discarded his socialist visions or moved to the Right in any meaningful way.

That’s not even the point

He’s an artist with a large following willing to explore fresh discussions, consider alternate view points and call out nuclear-grade hypocrisy when he sees it.

The more artists do the same, the better.
