Denver Critics Hail ‘Everything Everywhere,’ ‘Banshees’ for Annual Awards

Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” seemed an early favorite for Best Picture, but not if Denver critics have a say on the subject.

The Denver Film Critics Society (DFCS) honored “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” with 10 and seven nominations, respectively.

The Colorado group followed existing awards seasons trends, like Brendan Fraser’s Best Actor nomination for “The Whale,” but it added a few surprises. Mia Goth’s complex turn in the horror prequel “Pearl” earned a Best Actress nod while “The Menu” racked up three nominations.

“The Fabelmans” did snag two honors – nominations for Best Score and Best Supporting Actor (Judd Hirsch).

The group’s winners will be announced Jan. 16.
