“Dumb and Dumber To” reunites Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, who reprise their roles as the brain-challenged pals out for mischief.
The new film, opening wide Nov. 14, traffics in the expected humor given the franchise’s brand. Other jokes, though, may not go over as well.
Simply put, the boys’ banter is big, dumb and politically incorrect.
Harry and Lloyd mock Asian accents in a series of jokes targeting that minority group and chortle over pregnant women drinking and smoking with abandon.
Can we expect a barrage of social media outrage? Will the PC Police weigh in on the matter? Or, dos the nature of the franchise – they’re idiots, remember – offer some protection during the film’s critical opening weekend?
This isn’t 1994, the year the original film hit theaters. Not by a long shot.
