Alan Ritchson’s Tough Guy Talk Rings Hollow. Here’s Why (UPDATED)

'Reacher' star embraces hard-Left talking points as stardom soars

Actor Alan Ritchson is having a moment.

It’s a rare and magical thing in Hollywood when a star’s docket brims with exciting new projects. The media, as if on cue, fawns over his or her every syllable.

That’s where Ritchson stands today.

Not only does he headline Amazon Prime’s “Reacher,” he also has a buzzy new action film heading our way soon – “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” (April 19).

Ritchson, who most recently starred in “Ordinary Angels,” opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about, well, everything.

  • Trump.
  • Christianity.
  • Fame.
  • Sexual Abuse.

It’s the former two subjects that are most noteworthy. Why?

He’s doing and saying exactly what Hollywood expects him to say.

RELATED: WHY HOLLYWOOD WON’T LET STARS CHAT WITH CONSERVATIVE MEDIA

Let’s start with Donald Trump. The de facto mode in La La Land is to curse out the former President, or worse.

That’s more or less what Ritchson did.

“Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child and it’s unreal … I don’t understand it.”

He also teed off on Christians, who by and large have embraced both Trump and the actor for being open about his faith and starring in “Ordinary Angels,” a faith-kissed drama.

“Christians today have become the most vitriolic tribe. It is so antithetical to what Jesus was calling us to be and to do.”

Strong stuff. And he wasn’t done.

“Cops get away with murder all the time, and the fact that we can’t really hold them accountable for their improprieties is disturbing to me. We should completely reform the way that we do it. I mean, you shouldn’t have to spend more time getting an education as a hairstylist than as a cop who’s armed with a deadly weapon. We should make it very hard for people to make mistakes or abuse power in our institutions.”

Does he believe all of the above? Possibly. Likely. Maybe.

No matter. It’s all precisely cribbed from the Liberal Hollywood Playbook. Attack the GOP. Reject elements of so-called “Christian Nationalists.” Defame the police.

No one should be surprised to hear fans and cops alike recoil at his messaging.

Ritchson isn’t dumb.

He doesn’t have to weigh in on these hot-button topics. They have no bearing on his action-star status. He could politely dodge charged questions or take diplomatic positions on all of the above.

Instead, he played the Movie Star Card circa 2024. Veer hard Left and hope his “moment” continues indefinitely.

Now, had Ritchson defended the police, his faith and a certain former President not only would he likely apologize for his opinions he might find his docket surprisingly empty in the coming months.

Hollywood moments rarely last for long.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Ritchson’s Instagram account recently shared that he does not have an X or Twitter account. Part of this story responded to a Tweet allegedly from the actor. That was incorrect. The story has been updated to remove that information. Our apologies to both readers and Mr. Ritchson.

  1. Another day, another celebrity who mistakenly thinks we care about their political opinions. Sir Anthony Hopkins said it best: actors are pretty stupid.

  2. Richson is certainly entitled to his opinion but I’m sure his producers are cringing that he feels the need to share it. His potential audience (I.e. customers) for the types of movies and shows he stars in skew heavily male and conservative so it is simply stupid, from a business perspective, to knowingly alienate them. I guess he could always pursue gay rom-coms. I’m sure there’d be an audience for him – limited but an audience.

    1. Hollywood has already demonstrated that they actually don’t care about s***ting on half or even most of the audience. They value the virtue signal more than the bottom line.

      1. }}} They value the virtue signal more than the bottom line.

This is getting some pushback, however, as more and more companies find themselves getting the shaft.

Some people are Too Damned Rich, such that they don’t care if they make money. Others are not thus encumbered.

Disney is at least trying to make it LOOK as though they’re softening their stance… and a lot of companies are backing off when it comes to DIE policies, firing their entire DIE organizations. Some universities are also doing the same. The peeps in the academic DIE groups are often moving sideways, so… it’ll be interesting to see how much it actually plays out.

    2. Absolutely correct. I’m done with him. His stuff was fun, but I don’t need it. So I’ll find something else to entertain myself. After all, I did before he flashed in the pan.

  3. I will continue to watch Reacher only because im already invested in it. But i have not and will not watch ANYTHING else this guy does! Just another hollywood YES MAN!

  4. Just another Celeb trying to stay employed. Oh well He’s the one who has to Answer to His God, If you believe in that Religious Nonsense. Anyone who Doesn’t Stand Up to the Hate Filled DemSocialist Nazi contingent of the Democrat Party, is No Better than they are. BTW Remember what you said about Police Officers Mr. A.R. the next time you need One in an Emergency Situation.

  5. he didn’t understand who his fan base was and now his stock taking a big hit. looks like he’s going the bud light route and digging in his heels. will the coveted “modern audience” come to his aid?

    1. No, his Leftist audience will condemn him for his womanizing, violence, and ex-military character as portrayed. He is the epitomy of toxic masculinity on the big screen and yet there he is – a limp wristed David Hogg on steroids.

  6. I had 2 episodes left on Reacher season 2. I do not plan on watching them or any future seasons. Trump Derangement Syndrome lives on. Ritchson has no idea what he is talking about. While I don’t believe Trump is a Christian, he does all he can to support Christians and has not and would not actively persecute Christians for what they believe. This is unlike Biden, Garland, Wray and the vast majority of Democrats who have and will continue to do so.

    1. I’m disappointed to hear this liberal pap from Richson. My friends and I will now avoid his performances

  7. It’s a free country and he’s free to share what he believes, I’m free to skip all of his projects from now on, which I will.

  8. I’m still waiting for someone to tell me who exactly Trump r*ped. I have yet to hear the name of a single victim.

But as long as they’re bringing it up, can we talk about Biden and Tara Reade now?

    1. Bingo JimmyC! Tara Reade who actually had more evidence of Biden’s attack than they could conjure up when attempting to take down Kavanaugh. And let’s not forget Biden’s shower friend…. Reacher is a terrific TV series but Ritchson is making it tough to look forward to a Season 3.

      1. }}} literally 10 characters typed into google. I thought you folks where the “do your research crowd’. But I guess supporting rapist con-men is on brand for conservatives.

So, I take it reading comprehension is not really a part of your skill set.

1 — civil court jury (not the same burden of proof as a criminal jury) finds NO, it wasn’t R*PE, though they did agree it was sexual assault — not the same thing. So even with relaxed requirements for proof of R*PE, it did not pass the smell test with them.

2 — Civil court because it was so long ago that it could no longer be tried as a criminal charge (otherwise, the DAs would certainly have brought it in criminal court, even without shit for evidence). Also: Not criminal because NY law requires penetration for R*pe.

3 — Always interesting when women bring charges DECADES after the fact … because strangely, that’s not usually the proper time to do it. She also did not mention it to anyone when it supposedly happened. But hey, anything to vilify Orange Bad Man, right?

So, perhaps he did something seriously offensive, perhaps not. The actual evidence is a lot more specious than a blatant anti-Trump DA, Judge, and Jury can identify.

BIDEN’s accuser, Tara Reade, on the other hand, attempted to bring charges right after it happened, and told friends about it… right after it happened. It got no traction. She did bring it BACK up after Biden ran for PotUS… but there is no evidence to suggest this quite well could be a total fabrication, unlike EJ Carroll.

  9. Christians support Trump because he delivers. He got abortion appealed at the Federal level. He also doesn’t persecute Christians for wanting to live their lives like Christians. Obama/Biden’s record on Nuns who don’t want to pay for abortions on their medical plan is force them to do it anyways. He slandered Trump on calling him a rapist. He outright lied. What a Christian!! Does this mean I won’t watch his movies? It depends on whether I get around to it.
