Jewish Stars Blast Oscar’s Diversity Rules for Leaving Them Out
David Schwimmer, Juliana Margulies, Debra Messing and more cry foul
The minds behind the Oscars care deeply about addressing the diversity divide in Hollywood.
That explains the new rules, which kicked in this year, demanding Best Picture nominees check select Identity Politics boxes to qualify for the year’s biggest film honor.
Oscar-winner Richard Dreyfuss may have been the only high-profile star to blast the diversity measures. The “Jaws” alum said the Oscars should care about the quality of the film. Period. End of statement.

Except one group has been left out of that diversity shuffle, and now they’re speaking out.
Several stars, including “The Morning Show’s” Juliana Margulies, Debra Messing, “Frozen’s” Josh Gad, Mayim Bialik, David Schwimmer, Michael Rapaport and Tiffany Haddish, signed an open letter demanding Jewish inclusion in the new diversity standards.
Jew in the City’s Hollywood Bureau for Jewish Representation reached out to Team Oscar to complain about its refusal to include Jews in its list of marginalized/underrepresented groups.
Here’s part of that blistering letter:
While we applaud the Academy’s efforts to increase diverse and authentic storytelling, an inclusion effort that excludes Jews is both steeped in and misunderstands antisemitism. It erases Jewish peoplehood and perpetuates myths of Jewish whiteness, power, and that racism against Jews is not a major issue or that it’s a thing of the past.
Hollywood’s muted reaction to the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks on Israel which killed roughly 1,200 people hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Some stars, including Patricia Heaton, Rapaport, Amy Schumer and Sacha Baron Cohen, haven’t held back in blasting Hamas and its supporters.
Thanks to these two brave women who stand for goodness, truth and justice in the face of ignorant brutes and haters. https://t.co/0NmyYYTYdM

Others consistently rage against Israel, including John Cusack, Mark Ruffalo and Susan Sarandon. The latter’s comments convinced her talent agency to drop her from its roster.
Yet we haven’t seen the kind of blanket support that Hollywood typically generates for “approved” causes like gun control and abortion rights.
Even Steven Spielberg, renowned for his support for Jewish causes, took weeks to respond to the Oct. 7 atrocities.
The recent Golden Globes telecast didn’t include a single star speaking out against anti-semitism, the Hamas attacks against Israel or how dozens of Jews are still being held hostage by Hamas.
These actors who support Israel will always be on the right side of history.
You are seriously mistaken. Esp since s****y Hollywood was founded by JEWS. DUH!
From the perspective of the Left, not only are Jews “white,” they’re super-white. They have more power and wealth than actual Christian whites in America. The Jews have a real challenge to conceal this fact from the leveling Left. Even if they succeeded in being classified as the anti-whites that they are, they would remain a very powerful group and, as such, would be classified as oppressors, just as Asian-Americans are. For a long time Americans Jews have had their cake and eaten it–no more.
Agreed.
About time they got the anti white treatment too.
And ironic that the industry they run that welcomed diversity quotas is now impacting their actors!
My fellow Jews need to walk away from Hollywood, the woke mob, and the Left. They won’t receive any support or compassion from those in Tinseltown. Being Jewish doesn’t give you any “safe spaces” or check off any diversity boxes that get you unlimited sympathy. You’ll get thrown under the bus for supporting the Jewish homeland and condemning Hamas. Time to learn who will really stand by you in your hour of need and return to the Abrahamic faith.
The late Rabbi Jonathan Sacks explained anti-Semitism persists by adapting to each generation, tying itself to whatever is in power at that time. In the Middle Ages, it was religion (“Jews are devil spawn”). In the 19th century, it was the nation state (“You’re Jewish, not German/British/French”). 20th century was focus on race (“obliterate the Jewish race”) and class (“Jews are evil capitalists”). Now in this age of CRT and DEI, Jews around the world are being smeared as “evil white colonizers” and “supporters of genocide”. The accusations change, but they’re all the same lies and falsehoods.
Shouldn’t walk away, should stay and take over Hollywood again. If you walk away, they win.
Unless the entertainment industry changes by removing its DEI policies, bringing the full law down upon groomers, and making adequate movies for mainstream audiences, I don’t see a Hollywood worth saving in the current era. It isn’t the same business that gave Jewish people creative liberty and brought about the likes of Judy Holliday, Danny Kaye, and Tony Curtis. If provided with time and resources, I’d rather contribute to an independent studio producing good-quality work.
In the meantime, I’m looking forward to DW’s “Pendragon Cycle” series after reading 3 of the books. There’s much Celtic, Druid, and Christian lore , but from the promotion videos they’re focusing less on “a message” and more on paying homage to the King Arthur lore. Jeremy Boreing looks as devoted to the project as Peter Jackson did with his LOTR saga.
Nobody’s saying you must work for Hollywood, but Robert Castle has a point, we can’t let the wokesters win
Oscars deserve to go bankrupt.
Oh yeah, like that’s going to be easy…
