‘Reagan’ Rules on Amazon’s Sales Charts

Dennis Quaid's definitive turn as 40th president soaring in seasonal sales

Your favorite conservative might get a cinematic stocking stuffer this Christmas.

Reagan,” the summer’s biopic of the conservative icon, hit home video mere days ago. The title already jumped to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list, pushing past box office smashes like “Deadpool & Wolverine” in the process.

REAGAN Movie Official Trailer 2 (2024) - In Theaters August 30th.

The film stars Dennis Quaid as President Ronald Reagan, the former Hollywood actor who helped end the Cold War and bring “morning” back to America. Co-starring Penelope Ann Miller, Nick Searcy, Robert Davi, Kevin Sorbo and Jon Voight, “Reagan” earned $30 million in its theatrical run.

The film spent time atop Amazon’s Blu-ray bestsellers before settling into second place behind “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” “Reagan” is also outselling recent box office hits like “Despicable Me 4,” “Alien: Romulus” and “Godzilla Minus One.”

The film snagged an impressive “A” CinemaScore and a 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Professional critics skewered the film, suggesting the ideological gap between the profession and most movie goers.

The film’s theatrical release hit some digital snags.

Facebook unfairly punished the film’s marketing team, temporarily preventing it from promoting the title on the social media platform. Meta, the company behind Facebook, later owned up to its error.

Quaid promoted the film on new media platforms like “The Joe Rogan Experience,” “The Megyn Kelly Show” and “PBD Podcast.” That strategy also helped President Donald Trump surviving a blistering, coordinated attack from corporate media outlets to become the nation’s 47th president.
