Andrew Schulz: Fire Fallout Will Turn California Red

Comedian echoes Adam Carolla's prediction on wildfire's political ramifications

Andrew Schulz roasts both sides of the aisle. He doesn’t hold back to protect Democrats or Republicans.

The New York native offered some tough love to both parties on his newest “Flagrant” podcast episode, but one prediction sounded … familiar.

Schulz said California’s blue-voting patterns may take a hit following the deadly wildfires devastating the Golden State. That echoes what Adam Carolla has said about the tragedy’s political fallout.

This blue state may go purple sooner rather than later. And, maybe, even a shade of red.

LA Fires: Why No One Seems to Care & Who’s Really to Blame

The show’s panel explored the raging California wildfires and how survivors will be forced to rebuild their homes once the smoke clears.

That’s when new problems emerge, thanks to Big Government.

“Once you start building a house in California you deal with the bureaucracy that’s in place … all these people are gonna go, ‘Man, f*** the Democrats. F*** liberal politics. F*** Leftist s***. Open this up, turn it this into Texas or Florida and let them do what they do,” Schulz said.

The panel suggested Gov. Gavin Newsom might ease the bureaucratic red tape to spur a faster rebound. Not so fast, Schulz noted.

“Here’s the thing. If it’s now OK to streamline it, why the f*** didn’t you streamline it before?” Schulz asked. “Why you hemming up all these people? … People will say, ‘Oh, the housing shortage goes away quickly when you actually make it possible for people to build out here.’

“Either way, the people start going, ‘OK, I think we’re done with the Leftist policies,'” Schulz said.

“Progressivism is dead,” co-host Akaash Singh added.

That’s what Carolla said days after the fires began burning out of control. No matter who people blame for the catastrophe they’ll see how unforgiving California can be for builders and start reassessing their political views.

  1. Not only might California turn Red, it may even ATTRACT the very residents Newsom is determined to keep out; non-LGBTQ+ Whites. That reminds me, Newsom has an obsession, a word I don’t use lightly, with keeping the number of White residents in California, at least if they are NOT LGBTQ+, to a minimum. Much of it is because he knows few demographics are as less than likely to vote Left as Whites, at least if they don’t belong to the Alphabet Soup Gang, but I did read, if where alludes me, that demography is not destiny; that is, just because a person is nonwhite doesn’t mean he/she is dumb enough to vote Left. I’m living proof of that, and the Left will hate me for signs I don’t do “the Left thing”; I’m Black, Catholic, conservative and more than open to marrying outside the race. Also, I need to say that Newsom is the gift that keeps on giving to the California GOP, which was all but dead as recently as the dawn of the plandemic. Now, Newsom’s behavior is why conservatives in our state have some chops to lick. I’m confident that our state will elect a conservative mayor next year and Los Angeles proper will elect a conservative mayor next year, and he/she who wins will be unlucky if he/she needs a runoff to beat Bass, and that’s if Bass qualifies for a runoff.

  2. I’m Hispanic and I’m a conservative who loves America. Illegal immigrants have been affecting the census numbers and voting in California for decades… Until you fix California’s foundational problems, I don’t see California turning red anytime soon.

    1. It may not. A poll by the UK MAil ( always suspect) says that a little over half to not blame or .. slightly blame Newscum and Comrade Bass for the disaster. We’ll have to see if other polls more trustworthy reflect this insane poll.

  3. Not going to happen. All those rich democrats in LA will just blame climate change and keep voting blue. There is probably no human on Earth that is as stupid as a democrat voter.

  4. This is stupid take. There is literally just one city in America with a population over 1 million with a republican mayor. All these experts in forestry all of the sudden.

  5. Newsom, Schiff, Bass, Gascon, Pelosi, Gloria, Jacobs… the list of elected incompetents voted for by clueless California voters is endless. Sadly, there’s no changing one party rule ultra blue California. Impossible to overcome around 65%-35% die hard democrats to long suffering republican voters. Total clusterf*ck!

    1. Exactly. You’re never going to get 15 million people who have been brainwashed into thinking that every Republican is a closet Klansman to stop voting Democrat. People have to recognize a lost cause when they see one.

  6. I disagree. Politics has become a sacred religion for many, particularly on the left, since most of them don’t believe in God.
People don’t change their religions. In fact, the more those religions are challenged, the more fervently people circle the wagons and defend them.
I know there are a few exceptions. A small fraction of people will change from one religion to another. Or from no religion to religion, or vice-versa.
California will always be deep blue. Nothing is going to change. Republicans should get out while they still can, before the state passes an exodus tax or builds a wall around the state to prevent people from leaving.
