Feminist Fey Mocks ‘Scrapbooking’ VP Wife Karen Pence

Tina Fey sure does love to mock conservative women.

The supposed feminist was, of course, famous for taunting Gov. Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live” during the 2008 presidential election. And in the years after when Palin, probably to Fey’s chagrin, refused to cede the national spotlight.

Palin Endorsement Cold Open - SNL

Fey portrayed the former Alaska governor as dimwitted, folksy and unequal to the task of being vice president.

Now Fey has a new conservative woman to target … Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence. (Perhaps Fey has an unnatural preoccupation with the Office of the Vice President?)

Irony alert: Fey made her remarks about Karen Pence at the ACLU’s recent “Stand for Rights” benefit. The event featured a cavalcade of liberals, like Fey’s “30 Rock” co-star, Alec Baldwin (himself now famous for his portrayal of Donald Trump on “SNL”).

Rights, of course, are only for those who march in lock-step with Fey’s elitist brand of feminism. It’s the kind that rewards those who don “pussyhats” and glory in vulgarity.

Women who are happily married and embrace traditional gender roles? They must be mocked.

Clearly irked at Pence’s happy marriage and the Trump administration’s nonexistent war on women – hey, you gotta make things up sometimes to make your point, right? – Fey read directly from the left’s tired talking points:

Did you know that women still only make one “Ghostbusters” movie to every two made by men? And men average “Ocean’s Eleven” for every “Ocean’s Eight” that goes to women. That is simply unacceptable. … Right now, it’s not just about fighting for progress. Gains we’ve made over the last hundred years are under attack. Luckily, Mike Pence isn’t allowed to go down and shut down Planned Parenthood unless his wife goes with him. So, you know, if we can just keep Karen busy scrapbooking, we can all still get pap smears.

She really does tick off all the checkboxes of a classic “feminist” screed.

  • Women don’t have equal rights in America? Check.
  • Conservatives are attacking women’s rights? Check.
  • Mocking of high profile conservatives? Check.
  • Planned Parenthood is in imminent danger of being shut down by Republicans? Check.

Karen Pence is being mocked by Fey because of a March 28 Washington Post article detailing how her husband doesn’t eat alone with other women nor does he attend events where alcohol is being served if she is not by his side. This is not a new policy. He’s been doing this for many years as a show of respect for his bride.

Now, where most Americans would think these gestures sweet, liberals like Fey find the traditional (and, gasp!, Christian) values of the Pences to be fodder for bolstering false narratives. It’s yet another example of the hypocrisy exhibited over and over by the left, particularly by those who enjoy an exalted Hollywood status. They rush to belittle conservative women while claiming to be feminists.

But dismissing Karen Pence as someone who should be kept “busy scrapbooking” does a disservice to all women.

That fact is clearly lost on Fey.

Mrs. Pence is a devoted wife and a seemingly tireless ambassador for the United States. Her recent travel agenda included visits with sick children and military spouses, in addition to leading a delegation to the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria. She’s also an accomplished artist and outspoken advocate of the benefits of art therapy in treating mental and physical illnesses.

In demeaning the positive contributions to society of women like Karen Pence, does nothing more than out herself, yet again, as a liberal who can’t see past her political biases to extend common decency to other women.

The ACLU should probably look for a different speaker next year.

  1. Of course she mocks conservative women, she got the highest award in comedy for destroying Sarah Palin. Probably looking for an Emmy at this point.
